When you purchase a pre-order on Amazon, you don't pay at the moment. When you're going to pay, it's when it has been published, and it's a normal purchase.

IIRC you do need a credit card for pre-orders. I could be thinking of Kobo though.

All of my pre-orders have used my GC. I may not be charged at the time, but if I look at my gift card activity, the charge has been deducted. I do have a credit card on file and it has never been charged. I don't get my receipt/email until the release date.

This is how their game pre-orders work. You give them a payment card (gift or credit) and they put a hold on it to verify it's a real card with funds on it. The actual charge happens when they deliver the goods, i.e. when the product is released and available for download.

Or when they ship the physical product, if that's what you ordered.

I was actually reading the blurbs. Only one mentioned horses

Animals have always been a big part of my life. Few things can ruin a book for me like an author trying to introduce pets or animals without having any idea how to do it. When it's done right though, it's always lots of points in the author's favor as far as I am concerned.
