This month's Kindle First selections are out, they are:

Sugar by Deirdre Riordan Hall [Genre: Contemporary Fiction]

I’m the fat Puerto Rican–Polish girl who doesn’t feel like she belongs in her skin, or anywhere else for that matter. I’ve always been too much and yet not enough.

Sugar Legowski-Gracia wasn’t always fat, but fat is what she is now at age seventeen. Not as fat as her mama, who is so big she hasn’t gotten out of bed in months. Not as heavy as her brother, Skunk, who has more meanness in him than fat, which is saying something. Me too. Nothing sounded really appealing this month so I just went for my usual genre. Who knows, could turn out to be interesting......although I have no idea when I'll get around to trying it out with my huge TBR.

Hopefully I'll someday be able to skip a month when I know I'll never read the choices; but I'm still messed up in the brain enough to pretty much never say no to free. I'll go with one of the standalones.

The nice thing is, since they're ebooks, they don't take much space. So grabbing once each month even if you never read it isn't a big deal. I generally do the same thing myself.

True, and that's my daily argument too. But still, there's probably 10-20 books a day that I 'buy' that I'll likely never read. So that's a few minutes of mindless clicking a day that could be put to better use, and a lot of clutter in my library when I actually do look for something to read.

One of these days I'll look into maintainng a list of actual purchases, free or paid, that I definitely hope to read.

My mom really liked this Crow Hollow book. Hmm. The sci fi one sounded interesting but had some reviews that make it sound like it might be pretty bad. The trailer park one sounds horrible to me. Not sure what to make of Sugar.

I keep a TBR library in my Calibre library that has my paid and free purchases that I want to read and this is what I load on my reader. Saves quite a bit of time looking for my next book even though it is also quite large (up to around 600 listings or so but that's still less than 10% of my total library). I find it's a lot easier to manage as I go rather than trying to tackle a large batch (which is what I had to do when I started this). Works for me anyway.

I should start making a list or using that app now, but it may be too late for the tens of thousands of past purchases. Have no desire to scroll through that many digital items. Although perhaps there is an easy way to search for booaks for which I've actually paid?

You can always add a tag to them in Calibre when you add them to that effect, something like "paid-for-this" then browse just that tag archive.

Only easy if you add it to them as you go though.
