I think the $0.99 price is only at Book View Cafe. Amazon has the books at $4.99. The books are DRM-Free and you have the option of choosing Mobi or Epub.
Excellent deals! I own these both pretty sure I paid alot more for them. I got them at Kobo with coupon. She's an autobuy for me.

Audible's daily deal is the first book in Mary Balogh's Huxtable Quintet, First Comes Marriage, for $3.95

Quote:
Publisher's Summary

Against the scandal and seduction of Regency England, New York Times best-selling author Mary Balogh introduces an extraordinary family - the fiery, sensual Huxtables. Vanessa is the second daughter, proud and daring, a young widow who has her own reason for pursuing the most eligible bachelor in London. One that has nothing to do with love. Or does it?
The arrival of Elliott Wallace, the irresistibly eligible Viscount Lyngate, has thrown the country village of Throckbridge into a tizzy. Desperate to rescue her eldest sister from a loveless union, Vanessa Huxtable Dew offers herself instead. In need of a wife, Elliott takes the audacious widow up on her unconventional proposal while he pursues an urgent mission of his own. But a strange thing happens on the way to the wedding night. Two strangers with absolutely nothing in common can't keep their hands off each other. Now, as intrigue swirls around a past secret - one with a stunning connection to the Huxtables - Elliott and Vanessa are uncovering the glorious pleasures of the marriage bed...and discovering that when it comes to wedded bliss, love can't be far behind.

The Conquest of Lady Cassandra by Madeline Hunter

http://www.amazon.com/dp/B0095ZPYTS

$1.99
4.2 (43 reviews)
Genre - Regency Romance
Pages - 334

HER PRIDE.
HIS PREJUDICE.
THEIR PASSION.

As headstrong as she is beautiful, Lady Cassandra Vernham defied convention when she refused to marry the man who had compromised her. Now, estranged from her family, Cassandra struggles to make ends meet. A recent auction of her jewels has brought her a modicum of relief, but one of the most valuable lots was never paid for by the highest bidder: handsome, rakish Viscount Ambury. Cassandra needs that money badly, and not to buy a new hat.

Ambury has only to look at Cassandra to begin imagining her in his bed… He has not settled that outstanding debt for a reason. He suspects that the expensive baubles were stolen, perhaps even by Cassandra herself. Erotic fantasies about her notwithstanding, the vixen is not to be trusted, for she has already destroyed his good friend—the man she refused to marry who later lost his life in a duel, which Ambury suspects was fought over Cassandra. But nothing is as it seems…

As the seductive lord and the scandalous beauty are drawn together, the passion that flares between them will illuminate shocking secrets that will change both their lives forever…

Scotland 1118
Descended of the legendary sons of MacAlpin, Iain MacKinnon refuses to bow to the English. In what I hope is the last of my tech issues (pleasepleaseplease), I have to redownload about 90% of my Kindle library. I tried deregistering, uninstalling, and reinstalling about 10 times. Finally chatted with customer service. At first he was telling me oh that book has updated data. After deregistering and registering again and then uninstalling/reinstalling he finally told me I just needed to manually go through one by one and remove/redownload the affected books individually. I have a hard time believing so many books have updated data though I didn't want to just wipe the whole library and start over as there is a book I know DOES have updated version because the author changed the title and a bunch of stuff in it. But I want to read the original I downloaded.

The problem is I couldn't open any of the affected books in Calibre either. Even the Samhain and Carina titles which I thought were DRM free.

Oh well. It's only time, right?

Samhain ARE DRM-free. At least if you buy them from Samhain's webstore they are. I've got an email from their customer service confirming that.

They are DRm free at Kobo, too. They weren't when Kobo first opened and was adding their own css to everything, but they have been lately. And they are DRM free at Sony as is Carina.

The Kindle for PC app would not open the majority of my books. I was getting a message "This book could not be opened. Please remove the book from your device and redownload it" So I googled and the boards at Amazon said to unistall, deregister, reinstall, reregister. Which I did a few times. I tired just removing one book and redownloading it. Same message. Did a chat with a tech guy at Amazon. He kept telling me each book I mentioned had new content (from when I originally downloaded it). So he sent me a bunch. But same message. Then he had me deregister/reregister and eventually uninstall/reinstall, but nothing worked.

So I had to go through my entire library and remove the books that wouldn't open and redownload them. Given the number of Amazon freebies/99 cent specials I have it took me the entire evening. But I am done now Not sure what the issue was, but I am not buying that that many books all have new content

I wouldn't have cared, but I am the process of going therough every book in my main Calibre library and reconverting the ones from when I first started that I now know how to do more with (remove TOC page, fix TOC headings, correct line spacing, etc). I always like to use the original file. And Calibre wouldn't let me convert any of the AZW files. (To be fair I only tried 2 in Calibre, one Carina Press book, one Samhain thinking it shouldn't be a DRM issue). But they wouldn't open in Calibre either.

But as I said all is well now. <knock on wood>

Ah I had that happen many times! Yeah each time you reregister you have to redownload all books. They are DRM specific to that Device log in only. Which is why I don't keep books on K4PC. This is not so on a Kindle. A Kindle DRM is Serial specific.

I send the book to K4PC when buying then I throw them in Calibre where DRM doesn't matter. I then delete them from K4PC as it chokes on alot books. I have two Libraries for this. One for Free Kindle books and One for Paid Kindle books. If I want to read one it's copied to my TBR Library where it's cleanup and converted for my Kindles then the finished copies of epub/mobi are sent to Dropbox where I can then send the mobi to my personal documents cloud if needed.

I have deregistered/reregistered my Kindle 4PC numerous times and have never had to redownload books. And I was able to access my books the first time I reformatted earlier last month. I've always still been able to access them without issue. This was the first time I've run into this problem.

What is strange at that I was still able to access a number of books, some of which had DRM. There was no rhyme or reason to it. But apparently Amazon does add DRM to some Carina and Samhain titles, so I did learn something.

I don't think I've ever actually read a book in the kindle4PC app. But I have to have it since I do not have an actual Kindle.
