Very good news ! Happy to see that this project is not dead...
I will follow this thread and try to reboot my M92 on Onbuntu. According to my memories, there was 2 problems : - calibration of the pen - greyscale of the screen I hope the develompent will go on ! Thanks ! ![]() |

Just a quick update. Files are still uploading (I have an awfully slow internet connection).
I think next step would be to make installation easier (using MFG tool perhaps). Another thing is that I won't be able to support EMMC installation as mine got corrupted and I can only rely on SD card bootup. |

Please check the first post, I've added a link to a folder containing snapshots of my development. It still lacks two pieces: development VM and snapshots of raw EMMC images.
I am aware that this looks a little messy, sorry about that. Once everything is in place I will invest some time to clean this up and prepare something more straightforward. ![]() Honestly, I need to wrap my head around this as I already forgot how the entire thing was assembled. ![]() If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask. |

Development VM is in place. It should contain toolchain, build-tools, and the latest kernel together with initramfs for boot menu if I recall correctly.

Since M96 / 86 / Max devices are based on imx6 I think it is doable. But still, it would require a lot of research (whether there is a possibility to enter fastboot/download/recovery mode, how updates are handled, etc.). Another thing is that I do not own any of these devices. ![]() Also, If I were to continue development and possibly extend it to other devices, I would use Yocto for such: http://www.bcmcom.com/CustomerDL/AR6...39;s_Guide.pdf Last edited by seaniko7; 08-30-2016 at 09:23 AM. |

Hi Seaniko7! I have a few questions about your amazing work:
1) Can i have both Obuntu and the stock system installed? 2) Can i install on Obuntu a player that will allow me to open .FLAC files? 3) How much does the battery last with Obuntu? Thanks for all your efforts and thanks in advance for your reply |

![]() So Obuntu will be in my SD card and the stock system in the interna memory? Are there problems if I install it from the 1.7 firmware or it doesn't matter? As regards vlc as long as i know it should open every file format ![]() As regards the battery, do you think you will add the function that will allow to know about the battery level? Thanks again! |

Yes, basically that's it. It does not matter which firmware you are using currently.
Regarding, battery issue, I think so. I did not investigate that issue yet. Also: EMMC images are available. Please check the first post. |

you're kind as always, thank you. Emmc images allow to install on internal memory right?
I am quite a noob as regards this field, but you wrote instructions and made a video, so if i follow the steps you made I should be able to install Obuntu on my boox. In the video you said to copy two files on the SD card, one in .oar format to install Obuntu kernel, and the other one for Obuntu system. I've checked your Mega.nz folder, and the .oar file is missing. As regards the other file, "obuntu_updates.tar.lzma" (i know i have to uncompress it first) is good? Do i need only the other .oar file to install Obuntu then? |
