there's a fair amount of contemporary speech in it, and it doesn't have a very regency feel to it, but it does have moments of charm.

Even the pairings that were mentioned earlier did not sit well with me because, while they're not spoilers, they affect how I read the books as I look at the characters with a new awareness. Maybe use the spoiler thingy when the series is being discussed? Tying these two sentences together was probably not wise. I wasn't saying that blurbs should be put in spoilers. In the first I was expressing how I felt about the pairings being revealed, and in the other how I felt further discussion of the series should be handled. I'm reading book 7 now and I never for once thought that that hero would get a book, and I thought the heroine had died. If I'd known about that pairing beforehand I know the 'surprise' of the revelation would've been lessened. Sometimes I don't read the blurbs of upcoming books in a series and I learnt this the hard way. I was reading a romantic suspense where the heroine was being stalked and threatened by an unknown individual. I was 3/4 way through the book and I was enjoying it so much I went to check the blurb in the 2nd book. And yes, in that blurb they revealed the stalker. It's a few years since and I'm still upset about it ![]() Obviously I don't do that for every series; it's a judgment call and one I felt was necessary for the Psy-Changeling because of the Ghost story arc. But ... these are my issues and I apolgize for expressing them in a way that made people think they should put all discussion in spoiler tags. I'm just very sensitive about the whole thing. I last visited my Goodreads update page on Tuesday morning; I went there, saw the Heart of Obsidian book cover and I ran way and never went back ![]() Last edited by Loosheesh; 06-06-2013 at 07:18 AM. I don't remember who said that they loved Laura Kinsale's Flowers From the Storm, but I totally missed that it was released Tuesday. So if you have a credit, it is at audible. I loved the sample. And for those newbies, this is a book that was released in 1992. Here's the blurb:
The Duke of Jervaulx was brilliant -- and dangerous. He is London's mostnotorious rakehell - a charming, irresistible seducer possessing a brilliantmind and reckless passions. Until, in the wake of a shocking tragedy, he iscondemned to a world of shadows... and madness.Maddy Timms, an innocent beauty of modest birth and simple faith, once shefeared the dashing nobleman who awakened within her feelings she had neverknown. Now she has come to free him from his solitary torment - neverdreaming her warm, healing touch will eternally bind them together in need,in desire... and in love. |

In my excitement in my previous post, should have mentioned all 3 of those deals were $.99 at time of posting.
This one is supposed to be excellent, and it's free. [I grabbed it last time but haven't read it yet] The Life List by Chrissy Anderson blurb: The Life List, part I of The List Trilogy, is the ultimate chick lit novel and most of the story is true. Chrissy Anderson, a twenty-eight year old fashion executive, created a seven-point life list at the age of sixteen and she's been steadily checking off the boxes and mocking the style and life choices of everyone around her ever since. Her life begins to run amuck when she unexpectedly meets a much younger, Leo, who makes her question her "perfect life." Chrissy's lifelong friendships and her marriage are put to the test as she tries to sort out her feelings for Leo. With the help of her brassy, no-nonsense therapist, Dr. Maria, Chrissy learns more about herself than she anticipates. But, it isn't until the untimely death of her best friend that Chrissy is catapulted into long overdue authenticity and scrambles to correct the mistakes of her past....trying to figure out if it's Kurt, Leo or both that she has to get rid of to make everything right. Women of all kinds--twenty-somethings, housewives and superwomen wanna-bes--will all be able to relate to the pressure of constructing the ideal life, only to fall short. Not everyone will agree with Chrissy Anderson's decisions, but all will pause as they follow along on her journey to ask, "What would I do if I were her?" |

Entwined is getting better
I'm now 75%, and the sex is more tied to the plot. But the plot is moving pretty slowly. I guess that is why she decided to not end it at 3. But I think I will look at the library for the last 2. JMHO

I finished Visions of Heat last night. I liked it. I don't think it was as good as the first one. I found it anticlimatic, I gave it 4 stars. I think I will take a break from the series and read something non paranormal. The next book's couple doesn't really appeal to me as much. |
