This makes it a heck of a lot easier on my eyes. In the past that would have caused the book to not be syncable because it was modified. I also have tons of books I purchased from other stores and in other formats This allows me to archive and sync them too!
I know! I love that I can synch my docs now. I showed hubby how I was reading in one book on the K4 and then opened it on the K3 and it opened in the same place. He was amazed!

Of course I guess another alternative would be to use my GMail account instead of the one at GoDaddy.
When I assign a email account in cpanel of my domain It asks how much to set the file attachment limit. By default the limit is 10mb but you can set it to whatever the real server limit is or in between.
I do believe gmail's limit is 25MB. I have a gmail account just for my Kindle.

Oh so that's what the appeal of the Personal Documents syncing is. I de-DRM my purchased books too, so that's a good way to get the best of both worlds.

And it sounds like this feature of synching is going to be rolled out to the Kindle apps eventually too.... that'll be cool!

ETA: This is from the email after I sent the first document:

We expect to extend these features to Kindle Fire and Kindle apps (such as Kindle Cloud Reader, Kindle for Android, Kindle for iPhone, Kindle for PC, and Kindle for Mac) in the coming months.

Another cool thing about personal documents is that the archive even remembers which Collection(s) the personal document is in. I had a personal document in a collection on my K4. I deleted the personal document from my K4. I then retrieved it to my K4 from Archives. I fully expected it would be placed in the list of books not assigned to a Collection, but to my pleasant surprise it was placed in the Collection where it resided prior to being deleted from the K4.

I've had archived Kindle books do that before this personal document addition.

Oh that is good to know! I've been doing the import collections from each Kindle, too lazy to do it twice on each device.

I just went to the Manage Your Kindle page and looked at the Personal Documents section. If you hover over Actions and select Deliver to My...you can then choose Deliver to...and the drop-down that opens lists all the non-Kindle reader options (apps, K4PC, etc), greyed out.

I assume if you have more than one Kindle you can actually send the document to the another device at this point in time? (I only have one until my Kindle Touch arrives.)

Amazon needs to make a mobile version of this page. My Android phone does not like trying to select the pop up windows.

The other apps and devices which I own are all greyed out too, except for the KFire which I pre-ordered.

So your KFire can come with content preloaded, eh?

With luck they'll have the whole "push Personal Documents to devices that use the free Kindle Reader Apps" thing working soon. Seeing my iPhone, iPad, TouchPad, AND Kindle Cloud Reader greyed out on that "Deliver to" drop-down is annoying! It's tempting me but it does not deliver...literally!

Bought my kindle last December and soon after the firmware upgrade to 3.1 was done. I have read these boards over the last year looking for a solution to my problem. And that is short battery charge life, had my original 3g replaced by amazon and still had the problem.

Have had over 700 + books loaded and have checked several times over time to see if it was stuck in an index loop and it was not. I am a heavy reader so I sort of got used to a one week charge life. Have restarted back to factory default several times and again no joy.

Now here is the neat part , I installed 3.3 the other day and it looks like my battery charge life problem is solved. Instead of being able to watch the battery charge bar drop by large chunks every day, it is barely moving after several days use.

I have been tempted to post about this in the past but was content to see if anyone else had my exact problem of one week or less charge life and the unit is not stuck in an indexing loop, and I have not.

So I figured it was just my heavy use of my kindle that was the problem, now I am not so sure. If the upgrade to 3.3 solved it and it looks like it did, I am one happy camper!

DustyDisks, my K3 (keyboard) 3G+wifi also holds a battery charge for much less time than I expected. I only turn on 3G/wifi when I need to download a book, and there have been no books stuck on indexing. My daily reading time is irregular; some days I read for hours and other days only for 15 minutes.

My Kindle updated from 3.1 to 3.3 about a week ago. I haven't noticed that the battery life has improved since then, but I will pay more attention to that. It sure would be nice if the battery charge lasted longer than a week!
