Oh, this was nice ! Finally some screenshots ! So you read that crazy language ? I don't know how many times I have tried to look up a sign, only to experience that I am sort of unable to keep it in memory and you loose track and they all start to look the same. I suppose the difficulty may be that for a Chinese, the sign express some sound - and without such knowledge, it is hopeless difficult ? Need some sleep

lol, my first time to hear someone call them sign.... well, each of them actually combined by six or seven different strokes(draws) and that's it, so theoretically should easier than learning English...

I don't think so. Anything I say just don't represent Duokan team, don't take my words seriously. I think Duokan team has a route map on their own which is not open to us. They are trying to fix any bugs you reported but postpone any features enhancement users asked, not even a tiny bit one. From a couple recently releases, they are focusing on the usability of reading serial story online. As what I said above, there is a large number of light readers in China trying to find a easy way to read serial story online. (Can you imagine there are half of people pay $4/hr using a i7 computer in Internet Bar/Café to read serial story online by using clumsy IE and not even listening music and the other half people just playing Starcraft2) This is a big piece of cake and once the Duokan team make this feature usable, they can sell it to any company they want.

From what I understand, to update your instsall, just unzip the DK_System folder over your old one. Do not run the .bin / update kindle.

It appears that they are working on English support, but they still have not released an uninstall utility. I tried to sign up on their forums but it would not let me. Could some one please get over there and ask them to? It would be nice to be able to have an uninstaller for various reasons.

Epubs work now. They fixed some spacing, words don't run together now. But you will still see "" sometimes, or see leading " not connected to a line, it will trail off at the end of a line. Also I think apostrophes don't trail off on the end of a line, but they have spaces, like this don' t. Also centered text, left justify, and links on all documents remains broken.

But much better than previous release.

After looking more at the install scripts, the thing does a TON of file operations. I really don't know why it does this. Perhaps there is a more elegant way of doing this.. Like packaging it all in a ext3 image and mounting it / using symlinks or something. Also, there are some character defs that us english folks would like to make use of, that they simply delete =X. TBH I don't know why the whole install can't be done with 1 shell script and a mounted image file.

Somebody said something about a usb_switch file being installed, i can't find any scripts installing this. Unless it was installed by the .bin file, I don't know how to access this =(

Thank you very much for this update. I had hoped to publish some info about the uninstall issue - as at least it has been reported, so they are aware of the issue, and now they have a new release already ?

Here are some screenshots which show the problems with French accents in Duokan.
As you can see, characters with accents appear in a different wider font, as though just this character was added to a font set. It shouldn't be hard to replace a font set to fix this, should it?

Also, when I try to set input language to Latin French, Spanish, etc., it always defaults to Dutch!

Thanks so much for this! I replaced DKSystem folder with the new one, and everything seems to work well. Actually, I moved the old DKSystem folder to my computer, in case I ran into problems, but I didn't. Language set-up is the same.
Input settings under Latin still seems stuck on Dutch, and the fonts for French accented words is still weird, but, one this at a time. Epub is very encouraging.

As for me, I am falling behind a bit. Some trouble here and there.

Follow curstpriest's directions in #213 - ( ha, she is of course selecting magical numbers ) , but I could not use the .exe download. It took some time - but ticking of the rar-archieve, then moving pointer further at the right, you will find the download symbol. Click on it. Save "11ÔÂ13ºÅ·¢²¼°æ±¾.rar"
( looks a bit ugly, but when you unpack it - it will create a folder "11月13号发布版本" which is what we want. Inside you have the whole tree for DX )

I am lagging behind, because I decided to install some magic from our wizard NiLuJe. He has been busy ! - and of course I had to be a bit stupid and rush things. Make a copy of your initial system first ! - I am not smart at all

And now I have to try and recapture what I have done. Need it for later, alligator.

Hmmm. Something almost working in the update, that wasn't before. From the home screen, press menu, then Enter Bookstore. Then you get a list of bookstores in Duokan. Click on one, and it asks for USB connection, then Windows will attempt to install a driver. For me, something failed here. Afterwards, I click on any of the bookstores and it tries to connect, then times out. When I then uplug USB (because I am stuck in the bookstore screen, I get an "Exit Network" pop-up. Was I on a network? I didn't look like it because the Kindle didn't even appear as a device in My Computer. To be continued...

Windows tried to install RNDIS Internet gadget, but could not find a driver... I haven't found one yet, either

@montalex: My guess is that it switched to USB Net + Tethering, because they don't/can't support WiFi/3G, but need network access to the remote bookstore.

AFAICT, the Windows RNDIS Linux Eth Gadget drivers are bundled with duokan in one of the folder (in the initial archive, not on the Kindle). (It should work out of the box on Linux/OS X, though).

I know too little about the fonts, but remember you mentioned something about - if something went wrong, you could be left with a blank screen. So, me worried. I may not need them all - as you made some for some Asians too, if I recall ?

What could I use the dummy for ?

I have enclosed some screenshots of Duokan - not installed it yet, as I prepare this.

I have added the English translation inside ( ) - as origional, they are all Chinese.
1. network - PC drivers for usbnetwork (not description at the moment )
2. upgrade - instructions ( here I have selected DXG and translated the document )
3. update file ( this leads to the update file I am to leave on the root before doing update on the kindle )

But before that, I need to move the system folders over on the Kindle filesystem.

Notice the Almighty God has his folders here as well. Guess Google-translate is very serious or very impressed

In the last screenshots, you see that I have to restart Kindle, as under boot-up there was a message that the update failed. Last you see Duokan system is up. Press key 1, ( same as Q ) during boot up. Next it is time for setting up the system, but right now I need a coffee break
