@liyiecho: If the hotfix failed, you're most likely hosed.
Keep in mind that I actually only updated it to (theoretically) handle FW 5.7.3 yesterday, so, if you were using an old version that you had laying around, try again with a fresh copy. Just to put a nail on the coffin: what exactly did you do, and in which order? (FWIW: Factory Reset == terrible idea. Factory Reset *before* an official update == fatal idea.) And just in case it wasn't already clear:
Unless something is badly wrong with your Kindle, there really isn't any good reason whasoever to be performing a factory reset, especially if this Developer's Corner subforum is of any interest to you. But again, even without that there really isn't any good reason to ever perform a factory reset. Whatever you were trying to accomplish, it was better performed by a deregistration or potentially deleting selected files from the userstore by hand. |

@NiLuJe:Thank you for your reply. I updated to FW 5.7.3 on the basis of the jailbreak. I saw the battery was quickly out of power, so I reseted the device. Today I used the last JailBreak-1.14.N-FW-5.x-hotfix for FW 5.7.3, it didn't work, and it showed "UPDATE ERROR 007". Before FW 5.7.3, I reseted the device on each version of FW, it can be restored by using JailBreak-1.14.N-FW-5.x-hotfix.

@liyiecho: What do you mean, exactly, by "reset"? (And, again, when, timing is important).

@liyiecho: Again, what, exactly, do you mean, by 'reset'?

@NiLuJe: So sorry for you to reply me so many times. I clicked factory reset after I updated it to FW 5.7.3.

Then, yeah, you're screwed if the hotfix didn't take.
For the record, how old was your initial JailBreak install? |

@NiLuJe: I only remember I installed JailBreak before 5.4.5. When FW was 5.7.2.1, hotfix could restore JailBreak.

@liyiecho: So you did recently apply the hotfix (when you updated to 5.7.2.1)?
And, to be perfectly clear, because timing is key here, you basically did, in that *exact* order, and without any extra factory reset in between: * Initial JB way back when * Update to 5.7.2.1 * Hotfix * Update to 5.7.3 * Factory Reset Because, as @knc1 mentioned, a factory reset *then* an official update is unrecoverable. An official update *then* a factory reset, on the other hand, would have been a terrible idea, but shouldn't have prevented the hotfix from being successfully applied... So, yeah, we really need you to be *precise* ![]() Last edited by NiLuJe; 03-15-2016 at 11:06 PM. |

And just for my own sanity and to be able to sleep peacefully tonight (... well, err, today, oops ^^):
Yup, just updated my PW2 to 5.7.3 to confirm, everything works as intended. So, methinks there was an extra badly timed factory reset somewhere... You also wouldn't happen to have hard rebooted it (or have it shut down) at any point, since you mentioned low battery? In any case, I updated the Factory Reset mention in the first post, it was needlessly cryptic because written before the hotfix was available... Last edited by NiLuJe; 03-16-2016 at 12:03 AM. |

@NiLuJe: My order is "Update to 5.7.2.1 -> Hotfix -> Update to 5.7.3 -> Factory Reset". I think my device lost jailbreak.

For further notice, Never factory reset after a jailbreak. Now you need to wait until they get the downgrade done. Factory reset erases every change. |
