Saying goodbye to beloved pets is never easy. They are truly part of the family. I'm so sorry.

Please light a candle for Todd, my daughter's father-in-law. He died on a job site yesterday from what was most likely a heart attack. When he did not come home after work, family reached out to his boss, who tracked where the company truck was. He was on the roof of the job site. He was in his mid to late 50's I believe. It's not a great situation at all for his wife, for reasons too lengthy to go into here. Financially she is going to be adrift.

Thanks everyone. Turns out that Todd had a warning a few days before that his heart was struggling, and he refused to go to the ER. He had just turned 58. The knowledge it could have been avoided is a tough thing to deal with for his daughter. He was struggling with depression, and just gave up. All signs point to a sudden instantaneous death.

It was the same way with my father in 2018. He knew his heart was about to give up (he even told us the evening before his death), but he didn't want to go lie in bed in a hospital. He was 80 and was afraid he'd never come out and would be bedridden for the rest of his life. He died the same night and was found by a neighbor (probably instantaneous death as well).

But at least my dad had lived a long life. 58 is far too young to go.
