I never pay more than $3 for an ebook. Using ereaderiq, bookbub and checking prices on my wishlist everyday helps me with that. Everything else I get through Libby.

One fanfic I'm reading, every chapter the author keeps whinging in the author's notes about how difficult this is to write and how she doesn't like writing it and it's like... nobody's forcing you (or even paying you, fanfics are free) to do this. Just stop if you're not enjoying it anymore.

Honestly it's making me consider DNFing the fic.

Or if you wait too long for a price reduction and it mysteriously goes out of print. Or the #2 book in a series looks great but neither libraries nor anyone else has #1 and it's even out of print!

My local library specializes in getting second books of trilogies, but not the first or the third. Alternatively, it may have random parts of a series, but never two consecutive parts (if exaggerating a bit).

I know of one series where the first book is only available via Kindle (because of KDP Select exclusivity) but the rest are available everywhere else. Wtf?
