Feel better!

Third cup of Pu-erh.

Today started off great (Lucas, cinnamon buns, beautiful weather) then took a turn downward. Someone I love is in the middle of a divorce and I am one of his venters. It is hard to see him in so much pain. The day is picking up again. I am feeding Lucas and we are going to go for a nice walk.

Keep up the good work. Though I would have thought something more substantial that Coke Zero would be required for that, like a nice, hearty Keemun? Ah, well. To each his/her own.

An interesting amalgam of English and Japanese breakfasts. The tea -- purely English. The rice balls with plum? Quintessential Japanese. And overall? Quite appealing, actually.

I've never managed to learn to love Pu-erh. I've tried a few, but they sit unloved on the top shelf of my tea cupboard.

Lucas, cinnamon buns and a walk all sound very positive.

Rain and gray, today. Started out with Scottish Breakfast tea, then fresh squeezed OJ and my "standard" breakfast of eggs from our chickens, bacon I've cured, and toast from bread my DW made. The rest of the day is going to be spend knitting and "reading" an Audible book. And drinking tea, of course. Probably some more of that Scottish Breakfast, and then some Keemun?

Why no walnuts from your tree this year? I know I don't have a crop of citrus this year, well only two little ones - an orange and a grapefruit, and don't understand why that is.

Good Morning everyone. A beautiful sunny day today and at least we don't have to have the heat on right now.

I have a fresh cup of double chocolate coffee in my cup.

Thanks everyone...am on day 4 of whatever-I-caught-THIS-time, and seem to be at the sore throat, no voice stage. Should be better by Monday. Of course.

Time to go make some mint tea.

Well, usually it's because the squirrels get them before I do. Last year was unusual in that I managed to collect just over 2kg of walnut kernals. This year it seems to have been very poor weather in the spring stopping any pollination — no nuts on the tree at all.

Nothing in my cup just now. I'm off to bed in a moment.

I had a bug like this - I treated it with single malt Scotch ... it seemed the logical choice

They called it stormy Monday, but Tuesday is just as bad
Oh, they called it, they called it stormy Monday,
But Tuesday, Tuesday is just as bad
Oh, Wednesday is worst And Thursday oh so sad

The eagle flies on Friday now, Saturday I'll go out to play
Oh, the eagle, the eagle flies on Friday Saturday I'll go out and play
Sunday I'll go to church, and I fall on my knees and pray

Good morning, all. The storm came early. Sunday morning rains... Maybe a day at home today. Hunker down with a good book and a pot of tea... Tea starting with Taylors of Harrogate's "Yorkshire" tea, beside a plate of hummus, Kalamata olives, and babbaganoush. Chick peas, olives, and eggplant... a good way to start the day!

I have a close friend who can only eat Western breakfasts. Nothing else will do. He can eat foods from most other countries for lunch or dinner, but breakfast has to be bacon and fried eggs, pancakes and scrambled eggs, waffles with syrup and sausages, etc. He'd rather just not eat if he can't start his day that way.

He came to Japan to visit me a few years ago, and we traveled a bit. We stayed one night at a small traditional Japanese inn located in a very rural part of Honshu, but the owner could speak a bit of English. He asked my friend if he would prefer a Japanese breakfast or Western, and of course my friend said bacon and eggs would be fine. Usually breakfasts are served communal style in Japanese Inns, as 'set menu' meals. My friend was surprised to discover the next morning that his bacon (Japanese bacon, unsmoked) and his fried eggs had been cooked the night before so as not to disrupt the kitchen's morning preparation of the Japanese set menu. Cold tasteless bacon and cold greasy eggs... served by the smiling wife of the Inn's owner who was absolutely delighted that she could provide a nice Western meal to her foreigner guest!

I'm going to have another cup of tea. Yorkshire tea is really hearty!

ROFLU! Serves him right. I eat regionally. If that means pickles and rice for breakfast, then that's what I eat. Cafe au Lait and a cruissant? Fine. An English fried breakfast? Bring on the tea to cut it! :-)

For me, now, on this wet and grey afternoon, a bit of Ardbeg, I think.

I'm all over a "western" breakfast, eggs, hashbrowns (and they MUST be shredded, not cubed!), bacon or sausage, occasionally SOS or eggs benedict. I also completely am enamoured of a classic german breakfast of hard rolls, soft cheese, a variety of wursts and cheeses. I've often had cold pizza, YUM! spaghetti or schnitzel. quinoa, yogurt and nuts are high on the list. I can't stand oatmeal (chalk that up to Girl Scout Camp), and can only handle french toast or pancakes about once a decade, and forget mixing bacon or sausage with syrup!

Ahhhhh Girl Scout camp.... We made chocolate chip cookies using garlic butter accidently. They were gross.

I am a go with the flow kind of gal food wise but I prefer a western breakfast.

Garlic generally can be added in large quantities to almost any food... except chocolate chip cookies. Maybe not cheese cake either, but that might be my own personal bias.

I'm drinking a second cup of Indian Chai that I made to go along with dinner tonight; a keema curry to delight the palate!

Morning, all!

Cup of coffee in the really big mug this morning, with some Peppermint Mocha creamer thrown in. Is calming my truly annoying cough down nicely.

(now if I could just get my voice back before I try answering the phone tomorrow...)
