Jayne Castle messed me up! I had started this evening with a "text, column shown in tab browser" (as even though it's for series info I didn't want the numbers). Thank goodness I sorted as series order and started with "A" because some of her books are Arcane and Rainshadow, World of Harmony/Ghost Hunters, plus part of a trilogy! I was only 4 or 5 books in when I had to delete that column and create one that had comma separated text so it would handle more than one thing (you cannot simply change the column type, so I learned something new today).

I am actually amazed by how many books are affected by moving "extra" series info out of regular tags to my new "Ancillary" column. All those Tule Publishing books set in the fake town of Marietta that are also part of a multi-author series and sometimes their own series. (I have the ones by Kat Latham and Nicole Helm, possibly a few others I haven't gotten to yet).

Authors need to pick one series per book and stick to it

Kidding. But it can be a PITA.

It was work to set up the new "Calibre Library" which was totally an unnecessary step. If I'd skipped it I would be done already. But I'm happy I did it. It feels like my virtual bookshelves have been dusted and and I am setting them to order.

I'm still working on the main library which should be the most time consuming. Then I'll check on my Vault library (there may be some books there that have dual series, but it won't be nearly as many) and Undetermined library (since these are all unread I may have to double-check the authors' websites, etc).

Then it's a matter of updating the info in my Warehouse library to match. I'm adding all of the changes to a Word document as I go so that will be easy.

Basically all I am doing is taking extra series info out of the regular tags and moving it to the custom column and then polishing the books. That's much less time consuming than adding new books.

I figure it will take me until tomorrow to get it all done. But I'm actually having fun getting it all 100% straightened out . I've been pretty anal about my tags from the start so that certainly helps.

I and still debating if I should leave the Psy/Changeling and Psy/Changeling Trinity series alone since I have them combined in a virtual library and it seems redundant to me to add "Psy/Changeling" again to all of those books and short stories . I am leaning toward just leaving it blank as this was more to fix connected series with unrelated names. (FTR, I actually have them listed as "Psy/Changeling Season 1: Silence" and "Psy/Changeling Season 2: Trinity" so that is already long enough ) The only benefit to adding a new tag would be to get them all to display in the same tag folder in Calibre Companion, but that's already easy enough to do with the author name. So, yeah, I will probably leave it blank.

ETA: I decided it looked weird blank so I added "Psy/Changeling" to the new column. I am still of two minds about it, but I suppose it is more consistent with my "rules."

On sale for $1.99 Amanda Quick The Other Lady Vanishes (Burning Cove #2)

Spoiler:
The New York Times bestselling author of The Girl Who Knew Too Much sweeps readers back to 1930s California--where the most dazzling of illusions can't hide the darkest secrets...

After escaping from a private sanitarium, Adelaide Blake arrives in Burning Cove, California, desperate to start over.

Working at an herbal tea shop puts her on the radar of those who frequent the seaside resort town: Hollywood movers and shakers always in need of hangover cures and tonics. One such customer is Jake Truett, a recently widowed businessman in town for a therapeutic rest. But unbeknownst to Adelaide, his exhaustion is just a cover.

In Burning Cove, no one is who they seem. Behind facades of glamour and power hide drug dealers, gangsters, and grifters. Into this make-believe world comes psychic to the stars Madame Zolanda. Adelaide and Jake know better than to fall for her kind of con. But when the medium becomes a victim of her own dire prediction and is killed, they'll be drawn into a murky world of duplicity and misdirection.

Neither Adelaide or Jake can predict that in the shadowy underground they'll find connections to the woman Adelaide used to be--and uncover the specter of a killer who's been real all along...

One of my favorites is on sale: Rock Hard by Nalini Singh (Rock Kiss #2 or #3*/introduces the characters in the Hard Play series) $2.99

Spoiler:
In New York Times Bestselling author Nalini Singh’s newest contemporary romance, passion ignites between a gorgeous, sinfully sexy man who built himself up from nothing and a shy woman who has a terrible secret in her past…

Wealthy businessman Gabriel Bishop rules the boardroom with the same determination and ruthlessness that made him a rock star on the rugby field. He knows what he wants, and he’ll go after it no-holds-barred.

And what he wants is Charlotte Baird.

Charlotte knows she’s a mouse. Emotionally scarred and painfully shy, she just wants to do her job and remain as invisible as possible. But the new CEO—a brilliant, broad-shouldered T-Rex of a man who growls and storms through the office, leaving carnage in his wake—clearly has other plans. Plans that may be equal parts business and bedroom.

If Charlotte intends to survive this battle of wits and hearts, the mouse will have to learn to wrangle the T-Rex. Game on.

~ ~ ~

Note: the book used to be listed as #3 on her website as the long novella Rock Courtship was #2, but then they changed the novella to a point five and renumbered the rest of the books in this series. So in some places this is listed as Rock Kiss #3 and in others Rock Kiss #2.

Note: it looks like the price has not dropped at Kobo (yet?). Also reminder that Nalini's self-published books are not available at Google Play (explanation in this older post)

And yet again at $1.99...

Based on your comment about buying full price and not regretting it , and also on seeing this author recommended on Ilona Andrews' blog, I bought it back in July, and quite enjoyed it. Mihalik has the next title in the series coming out soon - I was lucky enough to get an ARC, and enjoyed it too.

As I said earlier this year, I paid full price for it when it released and no regrets. It's usually $9.99.

Spoiler:
A space princess on the run and a notorious outlaw soldier become unlikely allies in this imaginative, sexy space opera adventure—the first in an exciting science fiction trilogy.

In the far distant future, the universe is officially ruled by the Royal Consortium, but the High Councillors, the heads of the three High Houses, wield the true power. As the fifth of six children, Ada von Hasenberg has no authority; her only value to her High House is as a pawn in a political marriage. When her father arranges for her to wed a noble from House Rockhurst, a man she neither wants nor loves, Ada seizes control of her own destiny. The spirited princess flees before the betrothal ceremony and disappears among the stars.

Ada eluded her father’s forces for two years, but now her luck has run out. To ensure she cannot escape again, the fiery princess is thrown into a prison cell with Marcus Loch. Known as the Devil of Fornax Zero, Loch is rumored to have killed his entire chain of command during the Fornax Rebellion, and the Consortium wants his head.

When the ship returning them to Earth is attacked by a battle cruiser from rival House Rockhurst, Ada realizes that if her jilted fiancé captures her, she’ll become a political prisoner and a liability to her House. Her only hope is to strike a deal with the dangerous fugitive: a fortune if he helps her escape.

But when you make a deal with an irresistibly attractive Devil, you may lose more than you bargained for . . .

I found a couple of bargains while browsing amazon.fr, chances are good that they'd be available in Europe:

Year One by Nora Roberts at 0.99 €

A Game of Thrones: The Story Continues Books 1-5 by GRR Martin at 0.89 €, which is quite the bargain for the five books.

The Name of the Wind
by Patrick Rothfuss (probably a repeat) at 0.99 €.

You can maybe try this add-all-to-Amazon(US)-cart link. I don't know if it works, still. You get an error for every book that's already in your library upon checkout. You can delete them easily enough, but it might be easier to just 1-click through the individual book pages, anyway. LOL

The "add all" link worked for me. Had to delete two that I had, but it was really simple.

Not really.
Spoiler:
I just thought the killer was obvious even before the reveal of their identity at the midway point. Plus she's done the same basic plot in earlier books. Also I didn't like the ending though it was not surprising.

One could argue Witness in Death was #metoo, but that was published back in 2000. Women killing to get revenge on men who have escaped justice is pretty much a staple in this series as well as her romantic suspense as Nora Roberts and has been since it before it became in vogue to call out such behavior.

I fully admit I judge this series a bit harder than I would a book by new-to-me author.

As you see, the killer is a bit obvious but, in my case, although the topic of women's revenge has been included in the past, I think that, in this case, it's too much "enforced".
