It was recently tested on current firmware versions and found that Lab126 has disabled it. The current (for the past year) is DGA-2 Last edited by knc1; 06-29-2017 at 04:11 PM. |

I just got a Paperwhite 2 but I can't find my serial number prefix in the table on the wiki.
The first 6 characters are "G090 G1" which initially made me think that I got the newest generation by mistake. But from what I can tell I should be looking for "90G1" which is not in the table. So is "90G1" a Paperwhite 2? For some reason Amazon does not tell me the generation on the "Your devices" page after registering it, it simply refers to it as a "Kindle Paperwhite", as can be seen here: ![]() |

Note: Amazon does not count the PW as a PW-1 (we do, now anyway) It is not a mistake, it is in the table - scroll further down, and you got a PW-3, like it or not. = = = = It was only in the past year or two that Amazon began using the 'Generation ##' terminology in a consistent manner. I have seriously considered adding a 'Generation' column to that table, but I haven't been that bored with having nothing else to do (yet). - - - - - Amazon does, occasionally, use our terminology for their devices, at least in their URIs. The web-site maintainer that did that probably got fired the day after someone in charge noticed it. Last edited by knc1; 06-29-2017 at 04:21 PM. |

![]() The reason I got confused was that I purchased it used from Ebay and it clearly stated "2nd gen (2013)" but seems like I got lucky (or maybe the seller doesn't know about the difference). |

You'll find a lot of those errors on e-bay (where the seller hasn't got a clue what they are selling). |

So he has to post the updated versions in the body of the thread. Go to the most recent post of the CM thread and scroll backwards in time until you find the posting of CM that supports 5.8.2 |

It is only that the one we released was the second one found. Swifty was suppose to write-up DGA-1 but he got confused and tried to write-up DGA-2 instead. He never did go back and correct what he started. I do not have a clue what: "@Cin" means. Neither jail break procedure, DGA-1 nor DGA-2, works on 5.8.8 or more recent firmware versions. Remove jailbreak?
Hello, I jail-broke my KT3 successfully and have a few plugins installed, the process went really smoothly thanks to the guide. My question is, should I want to remove the jailbreak to claim the warranty, is it possible to do so? Can someone link me to a guide or a place to start?
Thanks in advance. |

At least no one has reported here in the past decade that they had a warranty claim refused because of one extra, 270 byte, file. But yes, it is possible to remove it. People who visit this forum seem to do it every day, without intending to. The search function will find you the post that describes how to do it. It was posted by ixtab IIRC, that should narrow your search. The cliff's note version: 1) Touch: "(factory) Reset" 2) Install an Amazon update file. Those two steps MUST be done in that specific order. Do "#1" before doing "#2". |

If that is what you were worried about. An update acts differently than a reset. An update can and will change some things but not all things. |
