Which is why I've chosen a surefire book next; Summer Knight.

Just finished 41 by George W. Bush.

Not sure what I will read next... I have a few new books from Amazon's Free Preview program (or whatever it's called), but I also have a dozen unread in my queue.

On the Gripping hand, my wife wants me to find a book series I have previously read that she had never found the time to finish (or I hadn't got the last one...), so I may dig those up and read them.

Just finished Terms of Enlistment by Marko Kloos, which was my kindle lending library book for December. It was a very enjoyable piece of MilSF, not really doing anything amazingly unusual, but just very readable and entertaining. If I have any caveat, it's that it's written in first person present. It is quite likely that the second book will be my next lending library loan, although there's not long left on my Prime, and I haven't decided whether to renew yet, so I need to choose carefully.

Well, it was written in 1972 and it shows. Two impossible things, and no good exploration of either. Disappointing.

Next up: Lightspeed Magazine #56 edited by John Joseph Adams. The latest issue from my subscription that I got through their 2014 Kickstarter.

I've started Brian Sanderson's Mistborn trilogy. It's a single volume e-book; does that count as one book or three?

I've started Mistborn as well. I'm counting the trilogy as three books. Apparently there will be seven books in the series.

I would count it as 3, since it's 3 books. It's an awesome series, by the way.

I'm reading Steelheart also by Brandon Sanderson.

It helped fill the time gap (I'm waiting patiently) between 'Skin Game' and the publication of the upcoming 'Peace Talks'.
Still, because of the holidays, I'm kinda' stalled, but a bit further on (56%) in Death Before Wicket! Also I can blame it a little on finding a $.99 special (good through Friday Jan 9th) on Moriarty: Anna Kronberg Trilogy (Kronberg Crimes #1-3) by Annelie Wendeberg. I've read the first 25 pages of the first of the three included novels, The Devil's Grin.

The first book in the "Nero Wolfe" series. This is my first encounter with this author (and series), and I really didn't know what to expect, since I am mainly a lover of classic British detective fiction, in which the clues are laid out, and it's the reader's task to try to solve the crime along with the detective. This isn't like that at all. In case anyone else hasn't read it, Nero Wolfe is an "armchair detective" - an enormously fat man private investigator who never leaves his New York home, but has a team of helpers, primarily Archie Goodwin (the narrator of the book) who does his "legwork" for him.

In this story, Wolfe is commissioned to try to track down Carlo Maffei, an Italian immigrant who is the brother of the wife of one of Wolfe's associates. Carlo turns up dead, and Wolfe is embroiled in a case involving the death of a high-profile university president and booby-trapped golf clubs.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book, and look forward to reading the rest of the series.
.
Lots of books as good as Nero Wolfe, but few better IMO. Rex Stout is an interesting person in that he seemed to live up to the standards of Nero Wolfe. Put his money where his mouth was.

Very good A&N TV series as well.
