I don't like heights and I remember thinking that my adventure of going over the side of a bridge by rope was less terrifying than driving in Italy. I actually took video out the front window to prove what it was like to those at home. I swear no one had brakes and had an extra set of car horns. The scooters gave me heart attacks every time they popped out and around big buses and other cars.

My computer INSISTS on doing what I tell it to do, rather than what I WANT it to do!

Today is our 23rd anniversary, and I am pissed as hell he ain't here.

Totally illogical, the brain knows that, but the heart doesn't.

Over the last several months, there have been so many emotions, I've read all the books, and know what to expect, just never ready for the sudden onset, or the intensity.

I don't see how anybody could ever be ready for it - I know I can't imagine it.

Caring thoughts heading your way from the UK. Please stay strong.

but now for the good news...........

Yesteday, I drove to the White Tanks Regional Park.......its not a park per se, its up in the White Tanks and has trails and campgrounds.

Now, anyone who knows me knows I am a complete woosy when doing things by myself.....I won't even eat in a restaurant by my self, too self concious and insecure.

However, I had been there ages ago with the granddaughters field trip.....and remembered the area.

So I hied myself over, (not far from here) pulled up my big girl panties, grabbed a water and took the Waterfall Trail..........the easiest one, and started walking.

Shortly thereafter, I looked back and realized why I was there. Nothing around me but mountains, plants that nature put there, petrographs, lots of sky, and in the far distance......a birds eye view of the valley.

A hawk flew overhead, and a lizard scurried by. Thats all. Just hot sun and a sense of overwhelming peace.

Until the weather cools a bit, I'll be making early morning trips, but I know there are other trails there, and I plan to be a regular.....Except next time I'll take a hat.........

Its a place to be alone, to think, and to just enjoy what God and nature created. Or the flying spaghetti monster, or whom every you want to give credit to.

I thank everyone who posted, or even thought, support for me. It means a lot.

Does a note on the car dashboard count? That is, if she is driving to get TO this lovely sounding park. DG - so glad you are finding some place that is peaceful and restful. HUGGS for the rest of the times alone.

A note on the dash board can let thieves know how much time they have to rob your car. Calling some one and letting them know where you are hiking, when you are planning on leaving, and when you plan to return gives SAR information they need.

My younger brother got lucky. He was hiking with a friend and went off trail. The cliff gave way. He slid a longbway and free fell 30 feet. His friend had stayed on the trail and ran to get help. My aunt watched the rescue on TV. He was in the hospital for a week. It took over a year for him to fully heal.

If you can't go with someone make sure you Have someone ready to call if you are late getting back. The sooner people go looking for you the better off you are. You cannot guarantee that security will look at your dashboard for info.
