Governments subsidy the oil and coal industries right now. Take those subsidies away, not to mention forcing those industries to actually clean up after themselves instead of making taxpayers do it, and you'd see that solar, wind, hydro and geothermal don't look so bad after all.

The technology is expensive, for large amounts of solar generated energy. Private individuals cannot afford it.

Yes they exist, and as far as I can tell, take themselves seriously. Along with the sites that claim they have proven that PI is equal to 3.0, not 3.14 etc.
