Do you have a Wide Screen 16:9 HDTV vs and older 4:3 Analog TV? There is a BIG difference.

The one book that was demoed was the Edward Kennedy memoir. The price shown on iBooks was $14.99. The Kindle price is $9.99. If this price disparity holds on best sellers then price conscious consumers will be saying no to the iPad. (I loathe that name, didn't want to even type it.)

It looks like a neat device but I'll interested to see the limitations. Great aesthetics but I don't like the closed eco system. Wonder when we'll see the first jailbroken devic?

I was considering getting a Netbook at one time. but, I would prefer this. Was also considering the JooJoo (also $499)... but it doesn't do anything if there is no network.

I'm sold, I think. The iBook demo video is so smoooth on Apple. I was also considering a netbook for my next portable device, but the cover and onscreen keyboard pretty much sold it to me. Strange though that PDF has been completely left behind by this. I would have thought PDF would be a selling point to all those people who like the layout and what PDF can do.

i've never bought an apple product, but this may well be the first one. not for reading - eink is SO easy on my eyes - but i was going to get a netbook and i love my son's ipod touch, so might as well combine the two.

Agreed. That is an impressive demo video. More companies need to learn how to show off their products like that..damn.

Amazon takes a loss on bestsellers when they force the price to $9.99. I'm not saying Apple would be crazy to do the same, but I think they want to see what will happen if they just let publishers set the prices.

I'll be especially interested to see what happens to prices when a book goes from hardcover to paperback release. Prices don't get updated at Fictionwise very quickly when that happens. Maybe Apple will be more aggressive about trying to keep publishers up to date.
