I'm having a major issue with 7.24.102. The editor will not load. The main GUI does run. I have no problem with 7.24.101.

I sucessfully opened the editor through the MDE. On Windows 10, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080.

MDE?

Can you open the editor with no other parts of calibre running and just use Windows Explorer to open it?

If by editor you mean the edit book tool then opena command prompt and run the command

calibre-debug --edit-book

and post any output

Book editor working for me in portable 7.24.102 - it's in D:\Calibre\Portables\Latest Preview :

Via ebook-edit-portable.exe
Directly via ebook-edit-portable.exe

That's with vanilla default settings

However, if I copy my 'normal' settings onto the portable Calibre Settings folder I can't get the book editor to fire up via either route.

Uncertain of how to run calibre-debug for portable.

I can't provide a useful debug log as the Editor is running without issues on my Win10 22h2 with the "ancient" MX230 GPU

With my somewhat newer machine, I can open the editor from the command line and can even pass it a book to edit. Windows 11 24H2 (26100.3037) on an i9, NVidia T1000 8G display adapter.

That runs the installed version (which is what's in the Path EnvVar). Should I replace that with ?

Pretty sure I've been here before, but not sure I ever found a way to run calibre-debug on portable.

FWIW - I tried deleting

edit-book-dynamic.pickle.json,
edit-book-history.plist, and
tweak_book_gui.json

from the 'bad' config, still didn't work.

Replace it with the apth to calibre-debug.exe in the portable folder under Calibre.
