You wait a couple of years and your eyes will be telling you that it's time to move to a larger screen or suffer a major reduction in the text you can read on one screen?

2022/08/18 or 2022-08-18 is unambiguous. ISO order & logical compared to any other measurement (H, m, s or degrees, min, sec or Stones, pounds & ounces). Only the USA uses mm dd yy, or mm dd yyyy everyone else with 2 digit years uses dd mm yy and yyyy mm dd or dd mm yyyy but without some other info you can't always tell if it's less than the 13th.

If there is a standard for the order of dimensions few use it. Sensible documents put the order as well as the data.
There is a standard for dimensions. It's H x W x D. Kobo chooses not to go with the standard.

Oddly, there seems to be no real standard. From the graphics industry, it appears the standard is width by height (no depth since they are dealing with 2D representations. See What Comes First? Width or Height?. I also found multiple references where the height and width were swapped. The only real standard seems to be that depth comes last. Unless you are going with the smallest first (yet another standard) which would mean depth would be first for an ereader.

Which is why I prefer writing 160.5W x 181.4H x 7.6D mm to remove the possibility for confusion.

Looking at Kobo's site (/ca/en), for the 4 ereaders I checked, Kobo seems to prefer WHD with the Libra 2 listed as 144.6W x 161.6H x 9D mm while the Clara HD is listed 110W x 159.6H x 8.35D mm (the WHD is my personal addition).

This also shows that all 3 (Sage, Libra 2 and Clara HD) are rectangular since the width is not equal to the height.

Thank you.

Or if there is it's in a locked filing cabinet in a disused basement with "Beware of the leopard" on the door.

There might be a standard, but in 30 years of checking dimensions of parts in engineering design I wasn't aware of it.

The nice thing about having multiple standards is that there is always one to suit your needs...

Graphics = W x H
Physical object = H x W x D

Those are the standards for size.

Could you point to a source for those standards? Preferably from a known standards organization.

Hey, I answered this post this morning, but now I don't see it.

My dislike of trade paperbacks has nothing to do with the weight of it. And regardless of the pages long epic battle, to me the Clara and the Libra 2 are close enough in size and weight that I wouldn't be bothered in the least.

The reason I didn't care for trade paperbacks and hardbacks was that the lines were too long, to where I would become aware of my eyes traveling back and forth. I just worry that a 7" screen would give me the same feeling.

I did occasionally read hard covers and trades when that was the only option, but preferred to avoid them.

Ah, now I get it. Too long lines isn't something that has ever bothered me, but that's probably (and weirdly) because I'm extremely nearsighted and cannot even read without my glasses on. And as I always wear glasses while reading, I tend not to keep my reading material very close to my eyes.

I am somewhat on the same boat. When i started using ereaders, I thought the bigger the better. But when i actually used them, i realized that i prefer to turn pages more often than not so a smaller screen (with a smaller form factor) would be better for my reading craziness.

On a large screen if the texts are too small and the texts require reading for longer times, my brain gets lethargic and bored. I get sleepy. Turning pages subconsciously motivates my brain to feel a semablance of progress and movement.

I would love to have the Clara 2e with the better screen (than the current Clara) as my eyes are getting worse (due to age). I just hope the lower chin is smaller than the clara HD so it would be even smaller in its general form.

Sad day... Returned Clara HD and official case today. Hoping I don't need to use hand-me-down Kindle Touch (over a decade old) with swing-out case light for too long.

Hi, I was offered 70€ for a Kobo Clara HD, but since there is a Clara 2 on the way, should I go for it or just wait and pay 150€?

It depends on how much you like the improvements on the soon-to-be-released model

Would really appreciate USB C and better screen most of all, but I think it wouldn’t be so hard to flip it back for around the same price and buy the newer version
