I only read my Kindles at home. But I do keep my Oasis 2 in a nice sleeve (bought from Aliexpress) when I'm not reading it. I ordered the similar sleeve for the Oasis 3.

I keep my Voyage in a 3rd-party cover, but the Oasis 2 would be too heavy to read one-handed in a cover.

Inverted text option is somewhere in Settings — Accessibility.
I don’t have a KOA2/3 or PW4, so that’s just what I’ve learned reading the forums

I also ordered the new Oasis now. Have to buy through Japan and wait another 3 weeks because I cannot buy it directly in Singapore. Upgrading from a PW1, so I definitely have a noticeable upgrade.

Got burned by the Kobo Forma which I had to sell (main reason was the PWM which both my wife and I noticed even though for most it is no issue whatsoever). Im keen to see how I like it vs the Forma. I hope no PWM for the Oasis! Will test as soon as I have it. If someone here already checked for PWM, please let me know.

I received a broken unit. The face (the black part) has separated from the screen at the top. They won't allow me to send it in for a replacement, they want UPS to come get it at my house. I work odd hours and can't do that, so I'm just sending it back for a refund. It's too much of a hassle.

I returned mine after two days of usage because:

-Absolutely no differences with Oasis 2nd gen except the warm light, that I don't use as I cannot read eInk in the night due contrast issues.

Always pays to do research before purchase. It's been well know before release and after that the comfort light was really the only upgrade...

They said "improved display" and "latest eInk technology". I assumed faster processor, more battery duration, even better display... but was all the same, and worse than that, they removed the magnets, then my gen 2 cover didn't fit (and removing magnets was not in their list of "improvements").

They repositioned magnets, the display is indeed improved, the light is the most even ever and they added comfort light plus the battery is now 1120 mah rather than the old 1000. So there are some improvements. I personally never assume anything with an electronic device. I knew the stats before and after release. I look at a ton of reviews. All this info was out before and hours after release.

I compared side by side both devices on morning day light and saw no differences in screen quality with warm light off, page turning, opening/closing books, on/off time...

However, could be my eyes aren't as good as used to be, but don't discard the "novelty effect" from those that have purchased the new Oasis.

By improved display they meant they added better lighting. Lighting is now a part of the display. It's still 300 dpi. I can't see the display getting anymore improved unless they add color. I doubt an increased Dpi will make much more difference to the text....

It really does. If you go up to 1200dpi, say (yes, that's a big jump, but that's the dpi of a *poor* phototypesetter, so that's the dpi of the published books they're competing with -- or it would be if the books didn't use cheap paper, see below), the nature of the fonts you can employ changes markedly. (You can start using much thinner ascenders and descenders without running the risk of them disappearing, to start with.)

The appearance changes too, for the same reason. 300 dpi: visible pixellation, just; 1200dpi: no chance, not even with the kestrel-sharp vision that most humans who are not me are blessed with. To me things look oddly chunkier on 300dpi than on 1200, and 1200 is definitely nicer to read.

Most people are barely aware of this because a lot of fiction is printed on low-quality paper in the first place, and 1200dpi is not really distinguishable from 600dpi on paper that absorbs and spreads the ink anyway. But get a good textbook and take a look.

Yeah I get that. But I dont need glossy page textbook print to read. Im sure eventually we will see an increase. I bet it will be with Kobo or nook first....lol...
