Does the screen give you full coverage of the 13.3 inches btw ? Read that there could be some compatibility problems

On the Max with firmware version 1.8.2, when using the native reading apps, the home menu bar stays across the top of the page. Not sure if there is a way to disable that. When using a user installed app such as Moon+ Reader or WPS, one has the full use of the screen. However, I haven't installed all that many apps so I don't know if it is true for all of them. On the native note taking app, the home menu bar remains at the top of the screen. As well, there is a task bar at the bottom of the screen from which to select pen thickness etc. As for user installed third party apps, they seemed to give you the full page, but I wasn't impressed by how the few I tried functioned so I uninstalled them. As for the browser, the home menu bar remains across the top when using the native browser. Haven't installed any third party browsers yet so don't know what the experience is like with them. |

I just uploaded another version of the customized bVNC:
this version uses a "data compression amount" of 1 (instead of 9) in order to be much lighter on the tablet's CPU. The file is available next to the former one, at https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sh...29#post3514529 Accompanying text: Quote:

Jean, hardboard, glue. Weight is much larger than before. One year it lives in a backpack - it's all right.

"Thank you for your video. I have an sony vaio with a solution 1920*1080. I Have connected ist with my new Onyx Boox Max Carta HD with a solution 2200*1650. But the display ist too small, The E-ink reader don´t use the full display. It shows only the vaio screen in an 10 " display, and not on the complete 13.3" display. Have you an idea? I´ve try the landscape mode but it doesn´t work." Last edited by tracey1; 09-01-2017 at 11:51 AM. |

I asked Onyx btw about the 2nd monitor device but they just replied with "You mean the new Max Carta" ? They also said somewhere else that the new Max carta is coming with a HDMI slot for monitor use. That implies that it will be the same device.

So since the Carta 2 is coming with a HDMI slot, do you guys think they'll have a separate charging port so the device won't deplete the battery while acting as a monitor ?

If the HDMI port also allowed me to hook the device up to a projector, that would be even better. But I'm guessing that probably won't be the case. It will just be to allow it to function as a monitor. How and ever, a dedicated HDMI port will be sweet. |

a 230x315 mm Medum Density Fiberboard, 3 mm thick, and a 230x315 mm synthetic glass, 2 mm thick. The comfort about MDF is that you can probably have them cut professionally to your need at your local DYI shop. I then rounded the edges, in both cases, using a Dremel with sand paper on a cylinder. The 230x315x2 synthetic glass weighs 160g, the 230x315x3 MDF weighs 170g. |

Had considered doing that. However, my backpack can get pretty full of various stuff and I didn't want anything pressing unnaturally against my Max. Figured a case would isolate it best. Now I have no worries. It's protected from all angles. The weight wasn't a huge consideration because I'm not going to be attempting to read it one-handed on a crowded train. |
