Wow, I must have jumped on something really fast for a change. I just checked my order and it still says guaranteed delivery by 8 PM Wed Nov 19.

Mine hasn't changed at all. Still Dec 19 to 23.

Neither. I was looking around the Appstore seeing what I'd put on it. The Amazon and Netflix stuff would have been great. I felt like I was going to take a gamble with everything else looking at screenshots and reviews.

I got cold feet.

I want to get the TV box/stick investment right the first time.

BTW, they now have the store set up to show you all the apps that will be capable with it. 215 of the Fire TV apps aren't going to work with the stick at this rate. Yikes. Not that I would want all those apps, but the majority of them are things people might have liked the $20 price point for. Can already see the reviews!

For $20 you get:
HULU
NETFLIX
PRIME VIDEO
PRIME MUSIC
YOUTUBE
PANDORA
SPOTIFY

Other stuff.

The guaranteed value is in the top seven. Everything else is speculative.
The possibilities, if it is hackable, are intriguing.
For me, there is added value beyond the big seven in Plex and PBS. Others will find it in Showtime or the games.
But being first kid on the block really only works if the top seven pay off for you.

There are 490 apps for this stick at launch. Besides Netflix and Prime, there are 81 entertainment apps including YouTube, PBS, Crackle, Hulu Plus, YuppTV, and the Smithsonian app. Plex, should you be interested in running a server, brings a long list of apps on its own. Games differentiate the Amazon streamers from the rest. The stick supports 238 of them. The Sonic games are all terrific. Tetris, You Don't Know Jack, and Terraria are popular.

Forget about this. You are not going to get a perfect streamer for less than $100 for a very long time -- never mind $19.

Most people get hung up on app count, but, after sampling a lot of apps, people end up using ten to twenty apps.

While I strongly prefer the FTV box to the stick, it is hard not to find $19 of value in a stick that streams Plex. This one does that, Netflix, Prime, YouTube, Hulu Plus, MLB.com, NBA Game Time, CBS News, Sonic, and Tetris.

If an app says it works with the FTV voice remote, does that mean it will work on FTV AND on the stick?

No. First, the voice remote does not come with the stick. Second, FTV is more powerful and has more memory than the stick, so those are the restrictions that will most likely restrict app selection. There is a FTV stick filter in the app store. Use that to determine which apps will work with the stick.

thanks for the follow up Jessica.

I am definitely getting it to stream videos-- didn't even occur to me there'd be such an assortment of apps.

I have a chromecast, but netflix is really buggy on it and I can't watch Prime videos. Hate to reward Amazon for withholding Prime from the device, but my scruples go out the window for 19 bucks.

I was wondering about this as well. If you already have a voice remote will it work on two different devices?
