I have not yet. I was waiting until I decided which cover to go with. I've decided on the Finte one which I'll get from Amazon. I might also get their Microsoft Surface Pro 2 cover as well.

I'm going to pull the trigger later on tonight after dinner. I'm ordering from Chapters since it will be cheaper then Kobo due to the exchange rate. I'll use Paypal to hopefully prevent a foreign transaction fee.

Thanks. So do I. Given what others have posted, I might get it by Wednesday.

I've decided to wait to order the H2O. I went to Chapters website and they had a 4 hour countdown for Black Friday. So I am waiting until the count is over and they have their Black Friday sales going on in case the H2O is discounted. If not, no loss.

Actually, I use your settings too.
But it happens that for many days (weeks..) I don't use the Kobo, that is left to stand-by (because I forget to manually power off): battery discharge and kobo shuts down, so when I need it again I have to recharge it before I can use it. If I could power it off after 1/2 days, it would be more convenient for me, and also I think that preventing battery to reach 0% could help increasing battery life.

Anyway, as you mentioned, probably it will be hard if not impossible to overcome the limit of 255 with a patch.

Ideally, I would like to set 1 day(=1440 min) or 2 days(=2880 min).
I've added this patch to post #2.

The 1-255 minute limit is because a 2-byte "movs" instruction is used to load the values in the code. Loading values larger than 255 requires a 4-byte instruction or multiple instructions, and there is not enough space to fit a larger instruction without re-writing the code, which is a lot of work.

I've added a new `Force user line spacing in KePubs` patch to post #2.

Some publishers create their books with every paragraph wrapped in <div><span> tags, instead of the more obvious <p> tags. This can prevent the line spacing set by the adjustment slider from taking effect.

This patch will force the line spacing set by the slider to take effect even on these problem books, but it might also override some line spacing that it shouldn't in other books.

(If you are sideloading kepubs then it is probably better to fix the books by editing the stylesheet in Calibre before sideloading, instead of relying on this patch.)

thank you very much.

Unfortunately it's not so useful given the limitation on value size (at least to my purpose), but as you explained it's not something that can be fixed patching the libnickel.

Maybe (just for fun) I will try simulating auto-shut down with some cron job, I guess it should be possible.

First of all, thank you so much for this patch. My reading experience is so much better now. I have one question. I'm kinda new here.

Is there a patch to enable night mode in Kobo?

Pff... getting crazy here.. I want to patch the GLO to have 5pt space at the right margin.
Sometimes the txt is to close on the edge of the bezel.. can anyone point me out how and where to do it ??
In the part of the patch I search for, only top and right are possible ??
Spoiler:

<Patch>
patch_name = `Margins fine tuning`
patch_enable = `no`
#
# Do not enable this patch unless you're sure you need it.
# It may cause the screen to be off-centre.
#
# Initial replaces
replace_bytes = 9A9D88, 19 46, 00 21
replace_bytes = 9A9D8C, 1A 46, 00 22
# Values for replace
# Left margin
replace_int = 9A9D88, 0, 10
# Top margin
replace_int = 9A9D8C, 0, 10
</Patch>

Are your left/right margins uneven and you want to make them even?

Or are your left/right margins even, but you want to make them uneven?

You are probably better to set the left/right margins using the Modify ePub plugin in Calibre. I don't really know how the `Margins fine tuning` patch works, it seems to only cause problems.

I have a lot of books that have the margin set to right=0 and to edit them all or (re) convert them is a hell of a job because i don't know exactly which ones having it and which one doesn't.
Also with Calibre convert them a second time will overwrite the original_epub created by the first conversion (I always insert the amasis30 font because I like it and set it as a default font,justification off,align to left at first conversion) so that will cause the original one to disappear.

I just hate those epub builders that really use this settings,if you read the book under an angle the txt is almost under the bezel.
Others use the &nbsp; 5 times at every line that has to justify in stead of using a tag for it so the margins slider doesn't work and the align left doesn't work.
That means open the epub and delete all of them.
But if the patch introduces new problems,it is still better to use Calibre,thanks !

No it doesn't. The conversion always uses the original_xxx version for the conversion.

Why don't you just adjust the margins in the font settings on the The first setting should be enough prevent the bezel shadow appearing on the text.

You can also put a file called "kobo_extra.css" in the root directory of the device and set the appropriate option in the device driver. This is added to the stylesheets in the epub when the book is sent to the device. You can use this to override the styles in books.

Thanks for clearing this out, I believed, when you do a conversion the original epub is renamed to original_epub.
Then,when you do a second conversion,the first conversed file would be renamed to original_epub, overwriting that one so you lost your original copy.
That is why I always,when doing a second conversion, I rename the original_epub file back to the epub and combine the conversion I already did, and the new one, into one task on the original file.
It is good to know that the original_epub always stay the same, thanks for clearing that out. !

Sorry for asking and it will be a bit offtopic, but can you post some small example about how to change margins in the font settings like u suggested ?

I googled on the the kobo_extra.css file but as far as I understand this will only in place when sending the book to the device.
It will not change the books already on the device,and a patch would.
But the idea is interesting so I will Google some more about options for this .css for future sending.
Thank you
