Hmm, I'm reading this differently. The phrase "the later of January 17, 2015, or 14 days from the purchase/order date" seems to me to say that if I buy an 'electronic or furniture product' like an iPad today, I can return it until 1/17/2015, since that's later than today + 14 days.

Am I reading this wrong?

You are. That sale ended on 22 Nov. To qualify for the holiday return policy, purchases must be made between 23 Nov and 24 Dec. Why they added the 14-day part is beyond me.

In the UK the Kindle Fire HDX 7 is half price, am I right in guessing this is last years tablet? Is it a good buy?

Amazon only made one model of Fire HDX 7, and that was last year (2013). It's also the same model they're selling this year.

Thank you. I'll get TTS for kindle books with it that syncs with my voyage but other than that and Calibre Companion I can't think of anything else it offers that I can't get on my iPad. Can anyone else sing it's praises?

I can't I would stay away from the HDX 7 if you are going to do any reading on it unless you read on a black background. It uses Blue LEDS which causes a blue to purple haze bordering around the tablet which is really light bleed. All tablets have light bleed but only the HDX uses Blue LEDs so it's very noticeably. I went through 3 to 4 of them before I gave up. Each one varied and even one had color blobs. The 8.9 does not have this problem it uses White LEDs and so does the HD models all use normal color LEDs only the HDX 7 has this issue.

Thanks for telling me this, I've managed to cancel my order now, that explains why its half price

I don't read on black, I can't handle the white text. Am I right in thinking that if I want TTS that whispersyncs with my Voyage I have to buy a Fire?

Yeah I don't know if the android Kindle app has TTS or not but all Kindle Fires from last year and this year have IVONA TTS installed.
