I suspect that's going to be true for this download script as well. I would think all it would take would be to change the file locations (add another folder layer, for example) to make the script stop working. I don't know if the developer is interested in keeping it up-to-date.

I installed Greasemonky and copied the script, but can't figure out how it all works. Fortunately, I was able to download all but 2 or 3 ebooks from my Nook account. Just double checking that I have them DRM free and then I will move on to Kobo to check all of those.

If you look through the thread, someone posted one that works - I think it's now userscripts-mirror.org. ETA: Here it is: Quote:

Oh it seems all Nook support is doing it pasting the same can response over and over. Reminds me of Target last Christmas.

There's an install button in the upper right. Or just swap userscripts-mirror for userscripts for the link: http://userscripts-mirror.org/script...152985.user.js |

And if they break it, there will be an even bigger backlash than there is now, and it's already fairly ugly.

If they suddenly break 95% of everything out there in the way of nook readers, they'll be facing a class action lawsuit, and rightly so.

By the way, someone posted on the Digital Reader's blog an alternate link to the script via the "Internet Wayback Machine" at https://web.archive.org/web/20131112...ts/show/152985

I'd say 2011. When B&N released the Nook Simple Touch and the Nook Color, that was the one time Amazon had to catch up. I think the Nook Color was the first "dedicated" eReader tablet. But B&N soon gave back the lead. I still think the Nook Simple Touch was (still is for me) one of the best eReaders made. But not allowing downloads and not giving warning they were going to change their policy, that's just about the end of the line for me and B&N. Last edited by rcentros; 09-20-2014 at 06:00 AM. |
