Before bringing the Aura back it updated to this new firmware and the Aura HD did the same the next day or so. I'm pretty much in the same situation as GeoffR with at least one kepub book that's unreadable due to the lack of spacing. Thankfully I finished it a few days before the update. Other than that everything seems to work fine.

It was my understanding, possibly wrong, that files delivered from the Adobe content server are provided by the publisher (or more specifically, their chosen e-distributor.. Ingram?) This makes me wonder if the Kepubs themsevles are actually created by the publisher/distributor as well, and no in house by Kobo.
The normal epub is added to the platform of the e-distributor(s) in a certain (language) territory by the publisher and normally contains either Adobe DRM or a watermark protection and is available to all member reselling partners. Meaning the book is "provided as is" by the publisher. The publisher is responsible for all content errors.
Larger booksellers can get access - on a individual basis - to the source files to add their own DRM-scheme. Or as in de case of Kobo also add additional code to make the books fully functional with their device specific features. At least that's theory and is how it should supposed to be but in reality doesn't pan out very well for Kobos proprietary kepub format. It influences too much with the original layout of a book (which you don't necessarly have to like) beyond the activation of specific device features.
And I'm quite sure that most publishers and authors are not aware this.

See this article in Dutch. It also mentions Kobo and iBooks.

Firmware 3.1.1 fixes the vertical spacing problem introduced in 3.1.0

Yay, yay, yay! Firmware 3.1.1 was immediately available for over-the-air updating here in Toronto. My Kobo Aura HD, Aura, and Glo all updated flawlessly, and I'm delighted to report that on all three models the problem with vertical spacing being lost between elements in many .kepub.epub books rendered via ACCESS has been solved. I'm delighted.

Hats off to Kobo for taking this seriously and quickly fixing the problem!

The new firmware is downloading
I'll check the book which I couldn't read properly.

Edit: yeap, the book is readable again

Edit 2: when pressing "remove" in the library, I like the new pop up window offering the choice to remove the book from the ereader OR the library. It's very clear that way.

The prompt changes depending on the book type and where you are. If you delete a book from a collection, the prompt has up to three options; to remove from collection, device and library.

FYI ...

My experience = no problems.

Using latest "127 hour" release Mark 4 ...

* Mini - updated with all (3) files

* Original Touch using ONLY .tgz file

All seems good.

OK pocket
OK library changes
OK connections usb to pc and wifi

(no idea about kepubs issues as I don't use 'em)

The sleep bug is gone (thank goodness!) but the multiplying shelves problem is back. They fix one thing and break another.

The light changes from 6 to 16 periodically on my Aura HD. Sometimes it stays on till after the cover shows when sleeping, sometimes it turns off first. Sometimes it comes back on if on before sleep sometimes it doesn't

Page turning is less erratic, but hops around (usually backwards when paging forwards) every so often by 10 pages.
