Hello, I have mine since Thursday (by the way, thank you Booxtor!) and i would like to share a couple of problems (solved!) and a doubt (any advice is welcomed!)
1 problem: my pc with windows 8.1 64 bit didn't detect the t68 as an external storage unit; i've tried installing new drivers, changing usb port and no way. solution for me: deselecting the debugging of usb 2 problem: the T68 was not able to connect to my wifi. I've changed the wifi channel in my router and it worked. now the doubt: I put a 32 gb sd card in the T68 with my entire library (about 4000 ebooks - 8 gbyte) and copied the books I want to have a look to in the internal storage of the reader. The problem is that every time i switch it on it takes 3 or 4 minutes to mount both the internal and external sd and it's too much for me.. sometime i want to have a quick look at one of my books and i have only 5 - 10 minutes.. waiting so much for having access to the external and internal storage is really too much.. any suggestions? what i did was to setup the reader to scan only the internal storage when switched on, and things went better, but in this way Calibre doesn't see the external memory card when i plug the t68 in.. how can i do? thank you! best regards Last edited by Brandobras; 07-05-2014 at 03:44 PM. |

Have you tried using "Calibre Companion" to manage your books? I find it to be much better than adding books directly from Calibre. I've just timed my T68 from being completely powered off, to being ready to read a book, and it takes about 35s. |

maybe it's because i have my books organized in many folders (/books/language/autors/...). How is your sd organized? i'm planning to format it and resend al my books to it with a simpler structure (maybe just /languages/...) I've seen Calibre companion, but it's not free and i would like to test it before buying it.. do you think it is worth? best regards |

If you use Calibre Companion you don't have to worry about how your books are organised, because all the data about them is in CC's database, and you can browse your library in whatever way you like - by author, title, series, genre, language, or anything else that you wish. It's not free, no, but it's the best money you'll ever spend on your ebook library.

I just finished playing with my new Boox and this is going right back to amazon.
Calibre companion is amazing and I wish I could have it on my other devices. Other than that, this is so unimpressive. The screen is murky. The text is hard to read unless I make it ginormous. And it's so SLOW! Turning a page takes longer than turning a page in a pbook. The $30 Sony T2 I got from Tiger Direct outshines this in every way except the lack of a frontlight and not being able to use calibre companion. What a huge disappointment. I was hoping this was going to be my Holy Grail reader. |

I think you got a dud. The screen on mine is clear and the page turns are pretty quick. Better to send it back.

What reading app are you using? I'm using Moon+, which works extremely well. I really couldn't be happier with it - it's close to the perfect reader for me.

On my device, the text is perfect to read even on a tiny font size. And it turns faster than my old Sony. I use the Onyx Reader App (I got the international version, not the Lynx). Moon+ also worked perfectly (though I switched back because I like my books to be full screen). I agree with HarryT, it's close to the perfect reader for me too (if only the light could be dimmed a bit more...) |

The fact that people say it's slower to turn pages isn't an issue for me I guess... just press the pageTurn a bit before finishing the page and that's it, but it's a personal habit probably. The thing I don't like though compared to the Kindle PW for example is the dictionary. Besides the fact that I still have to understand how to change/add languages to it, the big issue I have is that I prefer the Pop-Over window that gives you a definition immediately with 1 tap instead of the "change page / check dictionary / go back to book" way. That makes me NOT want to check definitions if I have a doubt, and it's a pity. |
