Wisdom & Wonder: Common Grace in Science & Art looks interesting and is free at Amazon. It looks like a modern translation of a Dutch book from the late 19th or early 20th century.

How will evangelicals respond to contemporary cultural shifts? What they believe influences how they respond and this will have significant ramifications for the future of a free society and its business, economic, and public sectors.

Sometimes the way forward is found by looking back.

Abraham Kuyper, a Dutch theologian and prime minister of Holland (1901–1905), elaborated on the doctrine of common grace, a theology of public service, and cultural engagement of Christians' shared humanity with the rest of the world.

As Kuyper noted, "If God is sovereign, then his lordship must extend over all of life, and it cannot be restricted to the walls of the church or within the Christian orbit." Kuyper's work shows us that God is not absent from the non–church areas of our common life and bestows his gifts and favor to all people.

It seems that some people like to be warned when a book is self-published, so consider this your fair warning.

Why We Eat Our Own by Michael Cheshire is free at Amazon.

All too often, Christians who are sinners themselves become judge, jury, and jailer over others. In his newest release, Why We Eat Our Own, author and pastor Michael Cheshire boldly explores some unsavory questions. Why does the world often do a better job of forgiving their fallen than the Church? When did the Church become cannibalistic? Is the decline in Christianity due to the world or have we just become horrible to each other and the world noted it?

Zondervan just sent me an email linking to a sale page. They have eleven books and a couple of pre-orders priced from $0.99 to $3.99.

Christian publisher David C. Cook has been putting out two or three free books each week. They're sometimes free all week and sometimes just for a day or so (usually Tuesday). I've only been posting the ones that I find interesting, but others certainly have different tastes.

If you missed a free book that you wanted, they have been putting the same books on sale for $1.99 or $2.99 for a few weeks after that.

From either link, clicking on each individual book takes you to an "about" page with links to a number of retailers. While Amazon and B&N have been participating for each book, some of the others (I'm looking at you, Kobo and Sony) have been spotty. If it's not free at one, try another. If you like PDFs, Google has been participating more lately and including PDF format as an option. If you prefer to support DRM-free, eChristian's David C. Cook books are watermarked, but otherwise DRM-free epub.
