I am interested to see what B&N will do with the Nook Color. The Kindle Fire is $50 less than the Nook Color. That's a pretty substantial difference. Will B&N lower the price? |

I would of have gotten one but the KT price and Customer support was a big decision for me. I'd still love to have one. I have alot of epubs but for now just a Kindle Touch and a Kindle Fire will do. ![]() |

Once you remove buttons, you're left with only a screen. I'm not sure how one could design a touch ebook reader that "stands out." I suppose different color options will be the main means of differentiation.

I do this with my 3G K3, and it's awesome. I keep a portable version of Calibre on Dropbox as well, so I can access that from any computer.

You could have both. I really like the idea of touch for things like dictionary lookup, highlighting, and menu navigation. I would like to have the option of page turning buttons on the side, though. It makes it easer to read one handed. Plus, if I use the touchscreen for every page turn, I think I'd likely get the screen more smudgy than I would like.

If I got a new Kindle, I'm leaning towards the cheapest model because it is the lightest and it has page-turn buttons. Can someone tell me if the Nook Touch has physical page-turn buttons?
My wishlist included a high resolution eInk screen like the IRiver Story, so I'm disappointed about that. I also hoped that they offered a touch Kindle that was about the same size as the keyboard Kindle, but with a larger screen taking up most of it. I like to read in landscape mode and would love the increased width, especially for reading PDFs. Are the Touch screens the same dimensions as the keyboard Kindles? |

I agree that B&N won't totally stop, but I think we might see a few stores closing. Also I think most people will buy the Ad version just to save the money, just like the Kindle 3 WSO was the best seller of the four.

I've seen only two other posts about the cheapest model having no touchcreen and no keyboard. As much as I dislike the keyboard, it seems to me it will be a real PITA to buy a book. And isn't that one of the things Amazon stresses - how easy it is to buy and download books.
For the tablet, I think you might be able to read epubs because the Amazon appstore has Aldiko. I don't think you can buy books from Aldiko, unlike the Kobo app which they also have. |

Actually some have already closed. And one in Michigan and one in DC will close by the end of the year. End of lease/increased rent seem to usually be the reason given for closures.

I think that Kindle's plan is to basically blanket the 6" e-ink space with everything people might want. Touch model? Got it! Budget model? Got it! Keyboard model? Right here! It would undercut this strategy to remove the keyboard model, thereby losing those customers who prefer a keyboard. (And there may be a lot of them, since all Kindles until now have had keyboards). |
