Ok. Ducked into my local jbhifi. No eReaders on display, some rubbish about no chargers when I asked where they were. Three (models) locked away in a non-visable cupboard m- I didn’t even ask what models. Asked about cases (what I was really interested in) and was told no cases, except one for a SONY. All up a pretty disappointing experience. I honestly don't even know how they are planning to sell them because you wouldn't even know they were there if you didn't ask. Meanwhile a butt load of crusty netbooks out on display.

Hopefully my local officeworks start stocking soon.

Hmmm Collins has on it's website the Kobo with all colours plus covers (including the lighted one). Pity the Kobo there is $11 more then JB. Maybe I'll get the Kobo touch from JB then go to Collins for the case.

I have to check with my local Collins store (which is 1/2 Collins and 1/2 ABC store)

I like Black but, I wish to get a Decal Skin for it and don't know if it is better to get White for the skin.

Just came here to say that, haha. All the colours, available for pre-order... $179.99 though. I think I'd pay extra to get the white/blue one, rather than a black one from JB or Officeworks. But I'll stick it out a little longer, and see if JB/OW are going to stock the other colours.

Ah well, at least I can go to my local Collins (hopefully) and finally see the white/blue one in real life! Yay!

JB at Joondalup had both the Kobo and Sonys on display and available to have a play with which I did and they were both very nice.

The JB I was in the other day had the Black Kobo on display but had a sign saying that the white and lilac were available

Yeah I shot JB an email with some feedback as I though the setup was pretty poor, and others (such as yourself) seemed to indicate their local JB's had models on display. Was keen to see the SONY in the flesh to compare to my Kobo and look at the cases. I might try and pop into the next closest JB, or a SONY store when I can.

The KT is smaller in comparison to the T1. My T1 arrived via Sony Style last week but it was a great thing to see both side by side. (The KB screen was locked up though)...

There is temptation though....

Yeah I posted similar here => Kobo in Australia

Quote:
"I just got a couple of emails this week (from Kobo & Borders AU). Kobo Touch is available at;

Collins Bookstores => http://kobo.collinsbooks.com.au/ (pre-order, release 4th Nov)
Borders AU => http://www.borders.com.au/kobo-touch (pre-order, release 30th Nov)
JBHIFI => http://www.jbhifi.com.au/portable/mp.../ebook-reader/ (instore or online now)
Officeworks => rumoured to have sometime in the next month.

Interestingly Collins is also listing the Vox for pre-order as well. Shame the markup from US$199 => AU$299 is a little more than I'd like (considering current FX rates), still it's nice that it is being offered here too so soon."

I emailed David (writer) re: said error. Rather sloppy article. I wonder if I can get a job reviewing some of these things for online.

Finally got mine from JB. When a store attendant finally came over, I asked to buy the Kobo Touch plus a case for it. I was told (again as I was there last week) they had covers for the Sony eReader and would that do, until I pointed to a star shaped sticker next to the Kobo saying 'Cases for Kobo eReaders now available, ask out friendly staff'. With the reply of 'Oh...' he went off to the storeroom. Returning he showed me the Kobo case (no light) for $49. I asked if they had the lighted version when he asked 'There is one? I'll take another look'. Returning he showed me the case with the light for also $49.

He was surprised that I knew all about the Kobo saying that they had no info from Kobo. Sony on the other hand had sent them details on their eReader. I ended up spending 10 min showing him on the display version things like how to change fonts, spacing, margins, reading life, stats etc...

In the end I got the Kobo for $158 and the case for $45 as a package.

Edit: I got a buyer for my Kindle3 plus lighted case.. for the same price I spent for the kobo and case.... cool.

Nice. I would have pushed for $151 as that is what they were selling them for the other week, but still not too shabby. Any chance of posting your thoughts/some pic's of the case. The one I believe it is looked a little biggish on the web - like lots of case around the Kobo.

Yeah some of the product knowledge is a little off. Found this out when I was purchasing a new TV there a few weeks back. To be fair though they were friendly enough and the price was good.

Also how you finding the jump to the Kobo from the Kindle 3?

How does the store work on the ones purchased JB HiFi? I've got an original Kobo and most of my books are from the borders online store and I use the borders app to sync.

So if I get one from JB, I assume I'll have to side-load the borders books through ADE? Does it just sync with the US kobo store by default?

Thanks.

I just got my hands on the Kobo Vox. It is still in its packaging - I am undecided between it and the Kindle Fire. Whichever one loses I will end up selling - just not sure when.
