Indeed, the Kindle box is quite bulky. Plus it's somewhat conspicuous. If you're walking around, it's like carrying a giant "STEAL ME" sign. A yellow/white envelope could hold anything.... |

Using the Kindle box seems like a great idea if you just want something to protect it in a back pack or briefcase. I actually did that for the first day until I got my cover.

I'm liking the lighted case. I've always used a book light for reading in bed when my wife is sleeping, and when we're hanging in the family room, with half the family watching a movie with subdued lighting, and the one in the Kindle case is a good one. If you do go with the used bubble mailer, I'd think the 'odd looks' kranu mentioned might really be taken as conversation starters if you're looking for that. Seems kind of a cool aesthetic combination, like James Bond opening a package from Q. ApK |

This thread reminded me that one of the things I like about the Kindle is that you don't have to give up and just live with the same look. There are hundreds of different looks and you can change the look-and-feel of your Kindle as often as you like. Once you have a little collection of your favorites you can switch them around.

You guys inspired me. My second Kindle cover is on its way. I'm going to try an mEdge to augment the Oberon Celtic Hounds. The mEdge has a completely different character. |

Thought I'd throw in my tuppence worth. I've had a Kindle since the end of October (2010) and got an Econique hemp cover for it (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Eco-Nique-Na.../dp/B003ZUXVSK). It's a nice enough cover, but I'm looking for a replacement for the following reasons:

	* I've realised that I don't like covers with the cut-out design, i.e. material dividing the keypad and the screen. It gets slightly in the way of the 4-way and 'Menu' buttons. * When I use a clip-on booklight, I find that the top strip of the cover casts a shadow on the top line or two of the page. * The feel isn't particularly book-like. * I'm shallow. A colleague got an Amazon cover and I've been seeing a lot of them on the train, and they're just far more lovely. I'm looking at a cheap cover out of necessity, probably one of these: http://www.dealextreme.com/p/protect...-3-black-49301 If I had £30 to spend, I'd definitely be going for one of those beautiful M-Edge ones, or the Proporta aluminium. |
