We all get to that stage at some time in our lives.
It is best summed up in "Stop The World I Want to get Off".

I'm probably going to quit my job on Mon. I'll probably never get another job in my field or even one that pays so much (which is barely enough to get by due in part to student loans) but I can't take dealing with the public and the boss and coworkers anymore. I'd rather starve on the street.
covingtoncat73, I hope that The Fates put a blanket of protection over and around you, and that you remain safe and secure.

Cheers

There are things completely out of your control..........all you can do is live a life of service as best you can........this doesn't mean giving up your worldly goods, and going to help the lepers.

It means being as good to people as your can, even strangers, smiling even when you get frowns in return, and helping in the most unobtrusive way possible.

Never mind the takers, the abusers. Look for the beauty in life. Its all around you.

Volunteer where you can. No matter where, or what you give, you will be rewarded 10 fold.

Does it make the awfulness go away? Hell no. We were given free will, and always there will be those that use it in the most horrendous way.

But it does help others.......and what else can we be here for?

Hey, but thats just my opinion, thats just me.

This is the 'Obon' holiday week... the time when people return to their hometowns and visit the graves of their ancestors. The roads are bumper-to-bumper with cars, turning even the expressways into 25 kilometer-long parking lots... I have this gut feeling the the ancestors really wouldn't be too upset if some people visited next week-end instead... or maybe even the weekend afterwards. They'll wait.

Hope you have had a good sleep on it. Maybe finding a new job before kicking the old one into touch would be wiser...?

What orlok said, and mine is the voice of experience. Back in the late 70s I quit a good paying job. That I had no prospects lined up didn't bother me as I'd always been able to find a job with no problem. Suddenly I found myself in a situation where I was either inexperienced or over-qualified for the jobs to which I applied. Employers were hesitant to hire me at wages less than I formerly earned for fear I would leave at the first opportunity, and unwilling to pay a new employee the wages I earned at my last job. I found myself unemployed for quite a spell and fell into a major funk. My only salvation was in going back to school to learn something different. I was then able to find something else before graduating. Those who feared I would leave as soon as a better opportunity came along were right, as I soon leaped at the opportunity to work with the civil service.

Thanks, WT and Orlok. It wasn't as bad as I'd feared yesterday. I still need to figure out an exit strategy. If nothing else, the co-worker that causes me the most consternation might be retiring in the next year or two.

How much time do you have?

It's not one thing...it's a whole bunch of little things each adding to the one before until you get to a point (at least for me) where I just had to scream (metaphorically speaking).

Thanks for listening. Much appreciated.

So long as your neighbors aren't too close...

My rant has a happy ending, at least. The company finally refunded my money. I think my perfect world would have no technology in it. Technology complicates everything. But, since I'm here anyway....and like ereaders...ah well.

Maybe I need to find a place where I can do primal scream therapy.
