Thanks Stitch, but I doubt a crop net designed to keep out birds would do much to stop a determined 85 pound Amazon woman. If that dog gets any bigger, I'm putting a saddle on her!

ugh, was reading in my bed when mom suddenly came in and scolded me for reading in bed, said it was going to ruin my vision. ugh.

well, now i just feel like throttling her and locking the door. i really do have a strong dislike for her and she's never insinuated herself into my affections like a normal mother.

Probably right... A dog would just barrel through it. Even a small dog. I had a German Shepard that used to just ram wooden picket fences that she couldn't jump. Smash into them repeatedly with her head until the wood broke, then she'd squeeze through and go off to play!

Why does a certain fuel company think it is ok to charge a whole month's interest on an overdue bill regardless of the invoice date?

So the invoice is backdated to 11th April (actually invoiced 17th) and due on the 24th. On the 30th of April because it was paid late, they charged 14.4% /12 of the total amount outstanding!

I am still trying to understand, and I have drafted another reply email, but am leaving till tommorrow before I send it - in case I make an idiot of myself.

Steam is still coming out of my ears this has been going on for months!

Sounds to me like a deliberate scam so they can charge extra. Does Oz have some sort of consumer protection agency? If so, a complaint to them might be in order.

Here, back dating an invoice is a no-no! And I believe they have to give you 10 days.

I am in the process of confirming the policy (it may yet be a mistake) and if I piss them off too much we may end up being a COD customer which is even more difficult than a 7 day account. We are in a remote area and having a $40,000 delivery when you want it is difficult. "by the short and curlies" I think may be the quote.

How do you like this for an extract of the email I sent this morning???

Quote:
Are you able to confirm for me that <snip>policy is to charge interest on the overdue amount outstanding at the end of the month for the entire month, including days in that month prior to the date that the debt was incurred? If this is the case, please forward me a copy of the debtor’s agreement (in particular clause 8), so I might understand it better.

Of course being no native speaker I'm aware that my opinion on this is of little value, but as far as my understanding goes I'd say you precisely! pointed out what's wrong without getting emotional. I very like the subtle hint of 'I actually read my contract' by pointing to the clause in question. If I am able to understand what the problem is in the very moment of reading that snippet they damn should too.

Um, yes, well done; but I was refuring to them deliberatly back dating the invoice in order to reduce the amount of time before late fees are incurred. I’m sure that a goodly number of folks were late thus creating a goodly number of Euros in the old coffers.

I was hoping this company would make things right.

They didn't.

Digital Licensure and ownership stuff is driving me crazy!

I purchased a download from Visible Body. It was only after the purchase was completed and halfway through the download process when I was asked to accept the Licensure Agreement, which stated in part:

"The Company, and its licensors, reserve the right to change, suspend, remove, or disable access to any Services at any time without notice. In no event will the Company be liable for the removal of or disabling of access to any such Services. The Company may also impose limits on the use of or access to certain Services, in any case and without notice or liability."

In other words "we can completely disable your access to this download any time we want, for as long as we want, without compensation."

That isn't acceptable to me. It ludicrous, actually. I contacted customer service and let them know that I require a refund because the License Agreement terms are not acceptable to me, and pointed out why.

I searched the site, and these terms are not displayed anywhere else. You only see the message after they have your money. No refund policy is stated.

To keep things short, another email from me and 4 days later it looks like not only will I receive no refund, but now they're also keeping me from the download, intentionally. With nary a word from their end. As they have no telephone number listed on their site, I'm limited to throwing emails their way which they obviously read but haven't bothered to reply to.

Shame, the graphics and educational quality are excellent. Wish I could recommend it.

I hear you, hon. Hope it gets better for you.

I'm probably going to quit my job on Mon. I'll probably never get another job in my field or even one that pays so much (which is barely enough to get by due in part to student loans) but I can't take dealing with the public and the boss and coworkers anymore. I'd rather starve on the street.

We're so spoiled nowadays! Just struck me that the 16 GB micro SD card I picked up for $10 is GIGANTIC compared to the first hard drive I bought (20 MB) and so much cheaper (I'm sure I paid a $200 plus for it).

Also how much larger and cheaper it was than the drives on the first mainframe I did systems programming; 2314's, 3330's and 3350's (29 MB, 100 MB, 317.5 MB)!
