My finger hurts! on the inside of the knuckle of the forefinger. It started hurting a couple of hours ago, and now my finger has gone black! Not the whole finger, just the middle third. I didn't do anything to make it hurt!

I have to take blood pressure medication - just thinking I have to has put my blood pressure up. (Well after nearly a week it is actually down) - but that is not the point. - can I stop taking it now? Maybe that is why my finger hurts. That medicine did it?

It is the same side as my arm that hurts that sent me into a ECG in Darwin - (normal! )

Had an x-ray of my neck (pressured by friend who thinks I damaged something when I fell off the treadlie) - self diagnosed the pictures (who said radiology wasn't included in the accounting stream at uni?) What the hell are those two white dots floating in space? Why are there round black shadows down one side????

Bloody (blood hee hee ) doctor wanted a blood test too - (the one she ordered in December) and of course no arm vein would co-operate - do I have no blood? She managed to get some out of my hand - now I have a cute little bruise on the back of my right hand.

Going to see the (you at risk of heart attack!) doctor tomorrow and have it all sorted out. Just to stop the clinic calling me to make an appointment. Last week i paid $60 for 5 minutes of her time. She didn't want to talk to me unless I did the blood test.

I feel better now Cheers

That's a little scary, but I'm glad you'll be seeing the doctor. My finger hurts too, but not as much, there's no discoloration, and I know why it hurts. It was bit last night by an angry cactus that was off its chain.

SS - sounds like you had a blood vessel rupture under the skin on your finger - definitely should see a doctor! Not good!

Cheers folks! I am feeling a little sooky about it. After I had a (very hot) bath the blackness faded, and this morning it is quite pale. I was hoping to have something good to show the doc. I know she will only be interested in my damned cholesterol level.

Glad you are seeing the doctor, I'd be worried about my finger turning black, although as it's faded maybe nothing to worry about after all.

update! Bloody doctors!

Finger nothing to worry about - ruptured blood vessel - she reckons not caused by stoopid blood pressure medication. phooey!

Nothing wrong with neck - must be shoulder - now have docket to get ultra sound - I will take some Ibprofen and forget about it I think - I can smell the medical roundabout beginning to start.

As suspected bluddy chloresterol too high again *sigh* now have to take stoopid chloresterol medicine.

I am going to be one of these old ladies with a pill box for all the stuff I need to take
Doctor says need it for health! If I was healthy then I shouldn't need all this stuff.

I have a feeling about cholesterol meds... and not a good one. I went to the doctors for a regular checkup when I was living in Thailand. (Full workup with all the bells and whistles only costs about $50 there.) The blood test came back as 'Cholesterol too high.' So I ate an extreme diet for about a week... Virtually no cholesterol producing foods. Then I went back for another blood test. "Cholesterol well within healthy limits. So I spent the next week as a carnivore, cheese, and butter freak. Three, four meals a day with as much cholesterol producers as I could find. Went back for another blood test. "Cholesterol waaay too high!" I did another week eating a low cholesterol diet and took another blood test... "Well within healthy limits." By this time I was tired of getting stuck, and pretty upset with doctors and what their tests tell them... Each time I took the test I went in having not eaten since dinner the night before. And each time the test reflected exactly what my diet had been the week before.

Diet and excercise are order of the day. So i know I was at a fat farm (where you eat crap) for a while, but I am home now. And my normal routine includes a treadlie ride nearly every day and a body balance class at the gym at least twice a week. Today we had a 30 minute walk and a 45 minute bike ride - so we had lunch out with burger/chips(shared one) and a brownie for dessert. Oh and two coffees with fat milk too. I feel good.

Normally don't eat like that - have skim milk in tea and coffee and eat lots of veges - fried food is a rarity. tonight for dinner we have bean and vege soup - maybe naughtily spinked with parmesan.

I didn't get the cholesterol stuff $60 for one month's supply and at was some new thing that was mega omega 3??? I could just take more fish oil certainly??
If I thought I was sick and needed the stuff $60 per month is probably not too bad, but I have doubts about it anyway - I should go back and get a prescription for some normal stuff that will only be $12 per month.

bloody doctors

The fat farm I go to is a shop that has a takeaway with a big fat fryer and choclates and and and the boss gives me lots of treats! I always get home fatter.

Food these days I think may be too processed etc etc. I am pretty sure when we ate meat and three veges every day most did not get too fat. Even though there was lots of fat in the food. Also the French seem to eat lots of cheese and butter, but don't seem to be so fat. Maybe it is what we don't eat enough of? like vegetables. I seem to remember a study on English children showed a large proportion the only vege they ate was potato and then commonly in chips.
