Coke Zero in my cup.

A hard couple of days (Mon/Tue) helping my sisters-in-law continue unpacking. The living room now has bookshelves against all flat walls with boxes of books stacked in front. Most non-books and non-paperwork boxes have been unpacked and sorted (put away, give away, throw away), with the things also either put, given or thrown away. We've even got the TV set up and the new phones (four DECT wireless phones) installed.

Next visit it'll be bookshelves in upstairs rooms (involving drills and walls), any remaining 'misc' boxes, and starting work on the paperwork boxes.

I cannot work from home, it is not an option. I am searching for a new job in the area. He won't be in day care that long. If I have to leave for work at 5:30 so I can work 6-2 then I will. The hubby leaves for work around 9 am, so he would end up in day care for 6 hours. I'll just have to go to bed earlier. The downside to that is less time with the hubby. Hopefully at three months Lucas will be sleeping longer at night so I can get enough sleep.

The other downside is paying for parking and gas with a longer commute. I don't think traffic will be bad at that hour of the morning or afternoon so the drive shouldn't be too bad. But my 6 mile commute is gone, for the time being.

I have inquired about positions closer to home with my current company and submitted an application with another company who has positions in the area. I gave me resume to a friend who works with a company at the old location. Here is hoping something comes from that.

Water for me, formula for Lucas. A couple of times a day he will breast feed for 15 minutes but normally he seems to breast feed for 5 minutes and then want his bottle. I am going to try the boob after the bottle and see what happens.

'Morning, all. Wet and drizzling day ahead. My heart goes out to those in the lower areas. A lot of roads have been closed off, bridges out, power off... We're lucky to live in the Heights. Just puddles around us. My water heater put out a good cup of "English Breakfast" tea from Bigalow's, and the stove turned on to fry up some eggs and ham, so I have to give thanks for that. We're going down the hill this morning to help fill sandbags around the elementary school. Trying to keep the water off the gym floor. The weather is supposed to clear tonight, but there is still a lot of run-off coming down from the mountains around Kyoto.

Definitely a day I'd go with Lapsang Souchong. Or in the morning, that Scottish Breakfast I got from Peet's that has a bit Lapsang Souchong in it.

I hope you're able to find a reasonable solution closer to home. Having worked for ~15 years at a 1 hour each way drive, I know what a toll it takes over time. Good luck!

In my cup: Peet's Pride of the Port for a change. A bit rounder and mellower than my usual Anniversary Breakfast Blend, but still quite nice. And with a definite bite at the end.

that you are able to find a job that is much closer to home. I know how hard it is to leave them and be so far away when they are little. I had to commute 2 hours back and forth when my son was a little older and I hated to be so far, but I had no choice. I wish we had had all the pluses of now, then.

My friend found a way to feel a little less stressed by having her daughter's caregiver send videos and pics during the day to her at work. Maybe, try something like that for you and Lucas?

Milk oolong. I would go for a second mug but I have a Lucas sleeping on my chest. The need to use the bathroom will probably displace Lucas in the near future.
