Thinking about the food waiting in the kitchen that I need to prepare for lunch, but first I need to pick up my daughter so she can come to lunch. I must stop reading the forum, so that I can do the above.

I just took a BBC brain gender quiz and found that I scored exactly smack dab in between male and female; I think my ability to rotate 3-D shapes in my head is what pushed me away from the female spectrum (plus my poor reading of faces).
Yesterday it was finally cool enough to sit outside; I took my knitting, my copy of Infinite Jest, and my Kindle (for the dictionary). I am using hand-painted yarn; whenever I got to a small bit of magenta (every 10 rows or so) I'd put down the knitting and read some of the book. After having to look up so many words (fantod, parget, reglet), I'd tire and return to the knitting, digesting what I had just read. I hope this weather continues!

Were they share permissions, from the fog of everything I read the last few days I think I remember that Share permissions will not copy with a folder. Also, if they went from NTFS to FAT32 then back again I'd not be surprised if they got messed up either.

Just back from my morning walk and ..... I'm

I was walking where I took the pick in this post:

and was suddenly attacked by a falling squirrel! Fortunately it was only a glancing blow off my head and a bounce off my ample belly (which likely saved it's life!) and I only came away with a scratch to my wrist.

I've seen dead squirrels on the sidewalk there....now I think I know why ... squirrel incompetence!

I'm going to be extremely careful the rest of the day....

In a desperate attempt to correct this I'm trying to do this the right way now with groups and specific permissions. My problem was that in my first fix a few months ago I had set the share permissions for the groups I created but left the NTFS ones at their default. Now I'm going through and trying to correct it by opening up the shares and locking down the NTFS and was having issues where my test user was alternately not allowed to access what it should or being allowed to get at the things it shouldn't. It all seems to be working now though, I think part of my problem was not waiting for the changes in active directory to propagate and in making too many changes at once

I'll let the one server run as is for a week and if all is well apply the same rules to the next ones. Now I can get back to configured the new backup solution

When I was at the beach a couple of gulls killed a pigeon and ate it. One of them actually picked it up and flew off with it after a while.
