Everyone names his computers, that's what the hostname entry is meant for.

I think that most just accept whatever the default is when the OS is installed. Speaking of that, I haven't yet figured out a nom de guerre for my Samsung Galaxy Note phone/reader/tablet.

Anybody have any suggestions? I was thinking of Marvin, after the GP android on the Heart of Gold.

I oftentimes called my boxes Miriam, Anne and Dorcas. Or Taru for the lap and Tara for the desktop.

He is a him even though his name is Pink Diamonds and looks pretty.

We also have Old Mary and Autumn leaves. Although today I am preparing a new computer to replace Autumn leaves and was going to call her Ruby, but maybe I will think about it a bit more until I get used to her. She is blowing a nice breeze in my face at the moment as I have Pink Diamonds set up behind her on the table.

Do you also write the name of the computer in white out on the top of the box?

Make sure you respond by going into your Google account and not by clicking on any links contained in that post.

A couple of days ago I got a supposed email from the USPS stating my package (I haven't sent any packages in quite a while) was undeliverable as addressed and if I didn't contact them by such-and-such a date, I would be charged $14 a day for "storage fees". I reported it to Hotmail as a phishing attempt.

I get things like that fairly often... from FedEx and UPS, Bangkok Bank telling me my account (I don't have one with them) might have a problem, Amazon delivery problems, PayPal shut down, CityBank account (don't have one of those either) troubles, etc., etc.

It's amazing just how many scammers there are in this world. Diogenes must be turning over in his grave.

Well someone scammed me for sure! My debit card got charged almost $200 for a point of sale charge to an airline. I looked up the fares and the only thing it could have been for was a first class inter-island flight. Only thing is, I haven't been off this island since 2005.

I called and had the card blocked, and went down and got another Monday. I'm still waiting for the paperwork to dispute the charge. What a PITA!

I’m not sure if they’re interested enough to pursue it, but airline tickets should be very traceable. After all, you have to show ID to get on the plane.

Oh, that is awful! I should also warn any college students to be sure to go to the correct FAFSA site (.gov not .com). There are a lot of fake sites out there. I have seen this happen to more than one student.

The scammers are a pain. My mother had just gotten PayPal and she got one of those fake notices about her PayPal acct. It freaked her out so much she cancelled PayPal, even though it wasn't their fault.

It could have been much worse; the scumbag with my debit card number had access to my entire bank account, totaling thousands of dollars. He/she only took $200.

Well, that is good, at least. I hope they catch them.

I am a little bummed because I was really wanting to take Friday off but, due to a new payroll system, we won't be getting direct deposit but a paper check we have to pick up at HR and work is far from home, so I might as well go in. Work is a long commute and, even if it wasn't, I'd feel weird about just going in to get the check.

You could take Monday off .... though it doesn't feel quite the same, I know.
