And that was a big part of my leaving my captive corporate job a few months back. The last few "crises" were a bit too much....

We have crisis management down pat, we run around creating crises; so we can manage them!

Wow. There's nothing like progress. What made the powers-that-be change a working system into something so chaotic?

The lease expired on the building they were in, along with a splitting of the staff under different managers. Now the transportation co-ordinators and vehicles are 5 miles from the people who handle the Hospital transportaion.

Of course, in a few months the vehicles move yet again.... A new facility is being built and then it will only be 2 1/2 miles between them.

Also the new location is 1/2 mile closer to me as well so all told a good improvement.

I should also add I have suggested that a FAX machine would be very useful and that maybe they could fax the data between locations; the rason for fax is that the hospitals use fax to send in the requests, so no eMail option.

A fax does seem a necessity. Too bad they can't find a facility to house the entire operation.

The problem is they have many, many programs they offer to the community, and, to make it easier for clients have staff spread across many, many locations.

To get an idea on the group take a look at http://www.schcontario.ca/

I know it's wrong to wish harm to anyone, but I really wish a Mac truck would run this character down, his lifeless body would be thrown into an active volcano, and the volcano would be struck and plugged by a giant meteorite. He has perhaps the most irritating voice I've ever heard on television and a grating personality to match. Who ever thought putting this jerk on TV was a good idea?

<rant> Someone should train Malaysian call centres about remote Australia!

Yesterday there were bush fires in the area (NT) and last night we couldn't get through to the store by phone. 2&2 together probably damage to the optic fibre cable. So I dials in to the store computer via the satellite to check there is not power outage or anything. Satellite worky fine. all checks done and everyone east of the line can phone each other, but not get out. More symptoms pointing to fire damage on the cable. Easy so far...

So because I am the only person that can contact the outside world, given that I am in it, I try to log a fault with Telstra. The local police have sent a message pleease log a call for them too.

I think maybe I have finally logged a call. The call centre people keep wanting the phone numbers so they can talk to the people whose phones are cut off. I tell them many times they cannot log their own call because THE PHONES ARE CUT OFF FROM TOWN! What is wrong with these people? You can't phone in to log a fault if your phone does not access the outside world. I try to explain the situation to two different people. It is affecting about 500 phones. they need to call in!

for listening </rant>

Now going to get haircut as I am starting to look like Steve Irwin.

There's nothing more stupid than untrained call center personnels checklists. Knowing how often I just demanded to be passed to the techs I feel with you.

Well now that takes the cake! After being told nothing is wrong with the line and they will have to chase it up la la la. When on the TV news it is announced that some workers have cut the line (so much for dial before you dig) near Mataranka!

We get the bloody news here 1000's of k's away in Queensland and bloody Telstra didn't even tell their Asian call centre operators of a know outage! </rantcont>

They tried, but the line was down and they couldn't get through.

I know... I shouldn't laugh at your phone troubles. Here in Japan I've never experienced any sort of phone or power outage. But when living in Thailand they were a weekly event. Everyone keeps candles, emergency power-out lighting units, and most importantly powerful UPS (that never seem to work.) Our building even had a back-up generator for the elevator!

Not blaming them, Telstra could have them know about outages they are working on.

I need help resetting my cat Stella's clock. I always get up at the same time for work (6 am) M-F. Always. When we first brought Stella home, she would sleep through the night on my feet and let Goldie wake me up - who begins patting my face with her paw every morning around 5:30 am. If the pats don't work, then she starts the cold wet nose kisses. Having a cold cat nose jammed into your ear hole does wake you up.

So ... starting a few weeks ago, Stella has decided to try to get me up at 5 am. She weighs in now at a bit over 12 pounds. She will jump onto the bed and land on my ribs, wait a few minutes to see if I react, and then plunks down on my sternum and goes to sleep. Suffocation is quite an effective means of waking me up.

I tried sleeping on my side. She jumped up onto my shoulder, fell off, climbed back up and spent several minutes teetering back & forth trying to balance on my shoulder. She then slid off and plunked down behind my knees.

Needless to say ... since I am able to describe these actions in such vivid detail ... she is succeeding in waking me up.

Any suggestions on how to reset her back to 6 am?
