Now I remember why that cat of mine looked familiar!

Let me explain:

I was vaccuuming yesterday. And one of our cats is terrified of the vaccuum cleaner. So, I went into the bedroom. He was there, on the bed, sitting exactly like Vcat's. Looking at me. And I know the scene looked familiar!

I have sort of the same problem at home, but not quite. Our oldest goggie goes ballistic whenever the vaccum cleaner starts up and tries to attack the part that you run over the floor (the nozzle??). And our youngest tries to mate with it.

Let me answer your question with something in a book I recently read by the author of The Pluto Files.

In Death by Black Hole: And Other Cosmic Quandaries by Neil deGrasse Tyson, Tyson mentions a science fair experiment by then 14-year-old Nathan Zohner, who asked people to sign a petition to ban or at least better control dihydrogen monoxide. Zohner pointed out that this colorless and odorless substance is a primary component in acid rain, has the ability to dissolve almost anything it comes in contact with, can kill if it's accidentally inhaled, is able to produce severe burns in its gaseous state, and that it's commonly found in cancerous tumors.

Out of the fifty people to whom Zohner presented his petition, forty-three agreed that dihydrogen monoxide (DHMO) should be banned from the environment, six wanted to think about it a bit more, and one refused to sign altogether, saying he actually supported widespread use of DHMO.

In short, 86 percent of those polled voted to ban water!

Only in America!

My dog has a warped threat sense. She is afraid of the vacuum but if she is outside when I start the lawn mower she will attack it. The first time it happened I nearly had a heart attack, now she is safely in the house any time one of the mowers is started.

He sat there, didn't move a hair, looking at me. I looked back. And continued vaccuuming. After I was done, I retreated, with him still looking at me...
