ProfCrash - being a new mother is always so hard with so much advice from everyone, but like aceflor said, "Do as you feel is best for both of you, and it will be." There is enough stress being new parents as it is. I went through the same with my son and he turned out great, even if I didn't take all the advice from my friends and family. I found that if I was happy and non stressed, so was my son. I had a male friend tell me that babies were like dogs - they pick up on the mood of the person close to them - if you are happy and bubbly they are happy, but if you are tense and stressed, they are fussy. I don't know how true that always was, but it was close enough.

Finishing the last of the coffee and trying to decide about venturing out to do errands.

I found that is really true. I just wish I could always be happy and bubbly around them, but they are older now and I am not as patient as I should be....
Prof, enjoy your baby! and doesn't he smell just incredibly good (at least most of the time ) ?

If you miss the train I’m on, you will know that I am gone
You can hear the whistle blow a hundred miles,
A hundred miles, a hundred miles, a hundred miles, a hundred miles,
You can hear the whistle blow a hundred miles.

Lord I’m one, lord I’m two, lord I’m three, lord I’m four,
Lord I’m 500 miles from my home.
500 miles, 500 miles, 500 miles, 500 miles
Lord I’m five hundred miles from my home.

Sometimes I forget where my home really is... My friend Bruce used to say 'home is where you don't have to put paper on the toilet seats.' That works OK for North America and Europe, but lots of Asia use squat toilets... no seats at all. It gets confusing sometimes.

Good morning, everyone. For those of you still locked into yesterday, Happy Independence Day. I made a firecracker out of some match heads and alumfoil, so I celebrated a bit too just for old time's sake. Today starts new year, and I'm doing it with East India Company's "Assam" tea, and roti canai.
(Mine don't come out looking quite so delicate as his... but taste good anyway.)

In the famous Hippie classic; "Be Here Now," Ram Dass (Dr. Richard Alpert) taught us that when the kids were getting cranky and fussy, if we all sat down for a few minutes, held hands while sitting in a circle with the kids in the middle, and calmed ourselves down, the kids would calm right down too! It worked just about every time! I think Customer Service people ought to try this with irate customers. Can you see it?

Congratulations ProfCrash! Welcome Lucas! It sounds like you and your family are doing great Enjoy all the great moments!

And to the rest of you: I still think about you guys. But life is too interesting and busy right now to be posting on MR. Meeting the love of your life will do that Most recent developments: we moved in together (4 months ago, after 4 months of dating) and we're already talking about buying a house together. Some baby talk, but nothing too serious yet I hope everyone is as ridiculously happy as I am

Lots of love,

Iridal

Edit: and to make my post complete: the picture is me and my soulmate while we were on holiday in Prague

Good to hear from you Iridal, especially that things have been going so well. Contrary to popular belief, there is life outside MR .

Hi Iridal!

Thanks for the update. Best wishes to your and SM.

Despite (because of?) having just had our 25th Wedding Anniversary, I'd glad to say that I'm still ridiculously happy with the one I'm with.

In my cup: Sparkling Lemon and Lime with zero added sugar. (Yes - I've run out of coke zero, and there's no good special offers on at the moment!)

So great you have power again. I never seem to realize how much I rely on electricity until is goes out.

Hey there Iridal. Glad to hear that you are so happy. One of rules in dating was no making any major joint purchase until we were married. I have known too many women who got screwed after making a major purchase. Just something to think about.

WB VydorScope! Power is a wonderful thing. Especially when it is as hot out as it has been.

Finishing my morning coffee before it becomes too hot outside to really enjoy my coffee.

ProfCrash - Have things settled down into a semi-routine yet? Did I miss a shared photo of little Lucas?
