There's a place up ahead and I'm goin' just as fast as my feet can fly Come away, come away if you're goin', leave the sinkin' ship behind. Come on the risin' wind, we're goin' up around the bend. Ooh! Bring a song and a smile for the banjo, better get while the gettin's good, Hitch a ride to the end of the highway where the neons turn to wood. Come on the risin' wind, we're goin' up around the bend. ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1876GgoNbPE ) Good morning, everyone! Happy 4th of July to all 'Mericans!' We have thrown off the shackles of Colonial Rule and are finally free ... but now forced to shop at Walmarts. Oh well... Big mug of East India Company's "Keemun Downy Bud" today. I found another unopened packet of the stuff in the back of the shelves. That, plus a ham sandwich will break my fast today! Quote:

I had some skim milk with dinner. Lucas had some breast milk and is topping off with formula. We are waiting for my breast milk to come in fully, until then he gets both.

Drinking malt beer is said to be good for the breast milk. I used to drink it but I honestly don't know if it made a difference as I had enough breast milk right from the first day.
No malt beer now, but the morning cup of coffee. |

Coffee with my milk. It is a long time ago, so maybe things have changed, but when I was BF my son at the beginning, my midwife was adamant he should not get formula too because she meant that the milk is produced according to the demand of the baby (aka no sucking=no milk production). I had the feeling it was not true at the time, but it was not so important and we went to formula at 3 months because I was working, it was getting overcomplicated, and I wanted my life back.
Then came petite princesse, who had a very bad neurodermitis from the start, so the peds all said she should be breastfed for at least 6 months. At the beginning I was panicked, but it turned out that not only the production of milk indeed grew with the demand, but that giving her pre-pumped breastmilk had a disastrous effect on her drinking as well as on my production. She ended up refusing the bottle, and waiting every day until I came home to drink. She managed very well, but my nights became my days, BF this baby all the time, and I went to the office every morning hoping to be able to sleep at my desk.... !!! She, on the positive side, was a delicious baby with her dad (who, being his own boss, could organize his work around babycare thank god) during the day, sleeping all the time. He has very fond memories of these 6 months. Me, not so much. That's the reason why however hard or nice DH is asking for a third baby, this is not going to happen. EVER. |

He breast feeds first every feeding. 30 minutes on one breast and then gets a bottle. So far he has been fine with both. He is a big boy and needs a god amount of foo. He got behind for a few days and lost over a pound. Two days on the new routine and he is gaining weight. He is also pooping finally. It took a thermometer in his bum to get him to go but he is making up for lost time.
Water in my up. |

Production is an issue but so is feeding my baby boy enough to be healthy. He breast feeds regularly and well 12 times a day. So we are still stimulating the breast milk supply.

The theory seems to change every year on this anyway, so my experience is antique to say the least.
Lucas should be healthy and so should you, you should also feel happy. Do as you feel is best for both of you, and it will be. Herbal water in my cup. It tastes disgusting. It supposedly will do wonders to my figure. See, I am supposed to be an experienced and intelligent woman, but as life shows, I don't know Jack or better said, I never learn

NOT going to weigh in on this issue.
![]() Finally, today, it looks like we're going to get some summer. The sun is peeking out, and the next several days are looking to be mostly sunny and no rain. FINALLY. So, I think I'll celebrate and make some sausage. ![]() Lion Mountain Keemun while I watch the Tour de France. |
