LOL! I'm sure England has LOTS of bright colors. I just couldn't think of any while I was posting. All I could envision was Sherwood Forest of Robin Hood fame... "In the greenwood..."

But that would make a good question for the quiz thread; why is rape seed oil bottled and called 'Canola Oil' in North America?

Australia has Paterson's Curse, so called because it is poisonous - but it looks stunning to see paddocks full of it. In South Australia it is called Salvation Jane because some farm animals can eat it without being poisoned and it's better than nothing in drought.

Because the varieties of rape seed now grown as a food crop were developed in Canada.

Yes to both. With the idea that housewives wouldn't be attracted to a product called 'Rape,' the Canadian growers, members of the 'Canadian Oil Association' developed the name.

The Netherlands too! A lot of trees are gray at the moment, with fat pigeons trying to get to the buds and getting it on with each other (and often plummeting down when the branch they're trying to walk along is a bit too thin and flexible).

As a photographer I've always had a great appreciation for the concept of 'gray.' Our light meters do nothing more than measure 'gray' and compare it with the location of 'Neutral Gray,' which is the exact middle gray but mathematically comes out to 18% gray. This has never made any sense to me despite many people trying to explain the numbers. I still think it should be 50% gray!
I have campaigned to have Neutral Gray re-numbered, but have been actively ignored. I don't take it personally.

Here's a close-up of the plant, showing the purple flowers. The plants in front are grasses, and the sunlight shining on them makes them look white. Sorry, I should have explained what you were looking at!

I've always thought of England as green. To my mind, Ireland is green too, only more saturated.
