I've discovered my nearest decent town has turned into a very dangerous place.

Two good fabric shops, one decent place for yarn (they also do fabrics, but not a good range), a couple of bookshops, several outdoors shops, a Lakeland, an Apple store, a Paul patisserie/bakery, and - discovered today, a Clahs Olson

Thanks to various of those places I now have a new slow cooker, a couple more kitchen knives (Mora - cheap but very, very good), and some nice patisserie goodness inside

And the yeti has a trackpad to use on his laptop when it's connected to the monitor. I managed to resist the lure of both fabrics and yarns (and promptly succumbed when I got home and looked online

)

The creative people who paint or sculpt or write novels can make something that others can see long after it was created. But the creative people who type in a little window on their PC and post on a web forum are like sand painters. In a matter of hours it is out of sight as the thread scrolls to a new page and is effectively lost forever to the four winds. We have some profoundly creative posters here and it often makes me sad that almost no one sees their craft.
