I had no idea paracetamol was unknown on the USA. Definitely my headache reliever of choice.

Thanks for the best wishes. Just spent nearly 4 hours on the road again today and could hardly get out of the car when I got home. My boss even tried to send me home, as he could see I was in pain, though I tried to hide it, and in the end I did leave an hour early .

Funnily enough, the same thing crossed my mind . I'm feeling so crap I am even contemplating getting my 10 yo daughter to have a go, but I might just be playing with fire .

You have to go to the Southern states to find them, and there they are a common as dandelions! I never encountered 'headache powders' before moving to Japan, where many different medicines are dispensed in powder form... but NOT for mixing with water!! You dump the powder onto your tongue and then drink! It took me a bit of practice to get it right!. What a world!
It's not actually a powder, but in soluble tablets that fizz (plink plink fizz - does that advert mean anything to you?), sold under the brand name Solpadeine. Very effective for an over-the-counter remedy.

Must admit I'd rather rum than whiskey. I've never been able to drink the stuff, no matter how many bottles I've forced myself to drink....

Looks like a bit of a hiccup there, orlok.

Haven't gotten to the single malt yet today, but there's hope. Meanwhile, Peet's Pride of the Port in my cup.

Up early this morning, will have a lemon and ginger with breakfast before I head off to the gym. Looks like the weather is a bit better than yesterday when the rain was so heavy I pulled over and waited it out, no reason to drive in those conditions when I don't have to. We desperately need rain but preferably not a month's worth in one morning. On the plus side, more water in the tank and the plants are happy if a bit beaten down.

Fresh squeezed OJ. Skipping the Peet's Major Dickason's again today.
So are you saying that if I were to go to a farm with chickens running around, their eggs do not need refrigeration? Why not, do not eggs still spoil?

Correct. If your intent is to eat the eggs in the next week or so, there is no reason on earth to refrigerate. Eggs are refrigerated because they are already weeks old by the time they get to the store, and then who knows how long they sit there, and finally get to your home.

Refrigeration won't hurt the eggs, I might add. It's just not particularly necessary, in normal use.

You say that you love me
All of the time
You say that you need me
You'll always be mine
I'm feelin' glad all over
Yes, I'm-a glad all over
Baby, I'm glad all over
So glad you're mine

I'll make you happy
You'll never be blue
You'll have no sorrow
'Cause I'll always be true
And I'm feelin' glad all over
Yes, I'm-a glad all over
Baby, I'm glad all over
So glad you're mine

Where is Dave Clark today....

Good morning everyone! Happy Friday! I'm playing bachelor this weekend as my wife leads a school trip to Ise. But I'm a big boy and can make my own breakfast! So it's Ahmad's "English Breakfast" tea, some home-made
English muffins and raspberry jam to start the day. Maybe I'll order Domino's Pizza for dinner....

Good eggs can remain useable and tasty enough for a couple of weeks. It took me a few years to become comfortable with this idea, having been raised to believe that if an egg was out of the fridge for more than 30 seconds without being cooked would kill me. But once I moved to Asia I had no choice but to realize that I wasn't being poisoned. None of the eggs in the markets were ever refrigerated, even in the mega-supermarkets. But then, Asia doesn't suffer from the scourge of Salmonella poisoning that the US poultry industry faces. Free range chickens are much healthier than the factory-overcrowded chicken factories raise.

I remember watching The Frugal Gormet on TV before his fall from grace, and he always stressed that a half dozen eggs should be kept at room temps for cooking, saying that it was safe enough so long as the shells were intact. And I never used to enjoy eating eggs when I lived in the States, unless I was living in rural areas where my eggs came directly from the farms, but I never really associated the problem with the factory birds. I just knew I wouldn't order eggs when I was in city areas.

Jaime Oliver did a special show about chickens that was a real eye opener... He had farmers, butchers, scientists, and chefs all describing their own aspects of Chicken/egg story. The only people who refused to partake of the show were those from the Factory Chicken side... Very illuminating...

Yin Jun Mei Souchong. A lovely, mild, whole leaf Lapsang Souchong.

I've got an hour's break and then back to the final push. So enjoying the tea and a bit of a feet-up.

indeed!

done for the day. Plenty of work this weekend, however. But tonight, going to head on down to the Legion for Friday Fish&Chips. And an O'Keefe's IPA (India Pale Ale). (Hey, it's a Canadian thing, eh? )

orlok - I hope you are doing better soon.

Let's see... cold, super windy, and torrential rains last weekend and today we are 98 F.
I keep switching back and forth with the heat on or the air conditioner on. Crazy.

Iced Tea in my cup and thinking of ice cream.

Why, of course, some Johnny Walker Black Label on ice sounds good.
