Betty, it sounds as if you and your nephew should just cancel 2012 and move straight on to 2013. Probably your nephew's neighbour as well.
Good luck for things to start improving from here on - I'm sure you must have had your whole year's share of things going wrong all at once. |

Well great... Good Eats, my favorite show on the Food Network, has moved to its sister channel, the Cooking Network. No doubt so they can fit more reality shows on the former.
The problem is that I don't currently get the Cooking Channel; It's not part of Cox Cable's basic digital package. |

Why is it - when you ask a clear question, you get a muddled answer?

My latest attempt at trying to get a non-copyright expired book onto my ereader has failed. Something about adobe digital editions not being able to open the file because it's been damaged? This is the latest free book from christianbooks.com that other people seem to have no problem downloading. I've uninstalled and re-installed adobe stuff, still not working. The ebook won't even show up in it at all.
I grew up consuming books like food and the past 5 years have had to live without them. Now I have this chance to read them again and these technical issues are driving me crazy. First the plastic was making me ill, I waited a few months. I was able to read for just a few minutes a day, and gradually was able to stretch that out longer. I eventually finished an entire book. What an acomplishment! It was amazing. But it'd be really, really, really nice to be able to read a book that isn't 75+ years old. First I had a malfunctioning cable, and a miniSD card reader that wouldn't work with the card my PB came with, and a password too long that wouldn't let me connet to the PB browser, though I still haven't figured out how to use that yet after connecting. Then I tried to get books on Kobo and had issues there, have identified it's a format issue, if I buy a book then it should work with this adobe epub thing. I prefer to try things out free before spending money on them, so when I saw that Christianbook is offering a free ebook in that format I figured it'd be perfect. But, as I suspected, it isn't that simple. I know this isn't the place for discussing ereader things, and once I'm in a more rational frame of mind I'll start yet another thread begging help off you technological ereader experts. I just was really hopeful that I was finally over the learning curve of getting ebooks from a store. I want so badly to just be able to read without restrictions and stuff keeps coming up that I can't figure out. I'm just frustrated and very tired. |

Miss, if money isn't a problem, you may want to consider a Kindle. If you're not into taking notes and underlining, the $79 model should be fine, although with your reactions to plastic, you may wish to get a Touch along with the Amazon leather case with the built-in light. The cover fits tightly around the Touch, and tapping the glass rather than pressing plastic buttons may work better for you. The Wi-Fi Touch is $99, and the 3G Touch is $149. If you want ad-free models, tack $40 onto those prices. The leather case with the built in light that runs off the Kindle's battery is $39.99. And, of course, with the 3G Kindle, you can buy books anywhere and see them appear on your Home Screen in less than a minute.
Just a thought. |

ack. Just reading this thread for the first time in ages. I hope that everyone feels better soon, gets their roof fixed, and gets through what ever insane situation they are in safely and with as little pain and tears as possible.

OMG, I hope everything gets better for everyone soon
![]() I have a rant, sort of. My 9 year old son has to write a story about someone he admires and he chose me ![]() A part of his story needs to include a happy, important or interesting event that happened to me while I was a child. Well, the problem is that I have spent my entire adulthood trying to forget my childhood so I'm pretty limited in what story to give him. I did come up with one important event though. Sometime between 1990-1992 I presented Lincoln Alexander with some award at the hospital that I practically lived in when I was a kid. If you're curious about who he is look here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lincoln_Alexander. Of course now I can't find anything on the internet that has any information on what I gave him or when it happened, and the hospital closed in 1997. I have it on video somewhere and I know it was on the news, but can't find that either. So basically I have to either give my son half a story or steal someone elses happy, interesting, important story and put my name on it. |

Maybe include how you feel about the occasion today. The fact that nobody remembers it, or mentions it on the web. And that the place is closed. |

@pookeysgirl
say to yourself: "the kiddo 'll hear nuff lies in his life -no need to start with that so early especially since this one would not even protect him from something." give the truth -with gaps included and explain them. To learn that we cannot find out everything in an instant is a valuable lesson too methinks |
