Gah! I've had a kink in my neck since yesterday. It's just a strained trapezius, but it feels like the wrong position will break my neck. I can't turn my head to the left, and moving to/from lying down is awful. Got barely any sleep last night.[/vent]

alternating heat, cold, massage

  • had a horrible exam which I'm not entirely sure I've passed
  • have a horrible pain in my hand
  • need to get a plan sorted for tomorrow and people are being disorganised

However, my exams are finished, I have a few nice beers in, and I'm watching the hilarious film of The Count of Monte Cristo from 2002... it's all good, really :P

Losing weight is expensive!

The jeans I bought a while back are now 2-3 sizes too big and it's starting to get uncomfortable to just tighten my belt because the jeans bunch up under the belt. The bras I bought 5 weeks ago because my old ones were too big have also become too big, don't know if it's a full size down yet but it won't take long if it isn't.

On the plus side: with a bit of luck I can now start shopping for clothes in the regular section instead of the big size section and with bras I will have more choice now, too.

My doctor recommends tequila for back and neck pain. cheaper than drugs over here, and less addictive.

Snerk. Whiskey has long been a remedy in my family for pain, anxiety and depression.

True story. My grandmother had a bathroom with a sliding door many, many years ago. Her cousin Eunice got stuck in there when the door would only open enough to admit a hand and mug. No one in the house could get it open. Grammy puts a mug of tea with a shot of Irish Whiskey in it and says, "Drink this. It'll help."

I used to try to keep a bit of medicinal brandy on hand, trouble was I would tend to contract many more conditions that a bit of a tot would cure.

Now that I don't use the stuff, those conditions seem to be much less frequent.

My husband and I like to have a gin and tonic every evening, for medicinal purposes of course. At the moment we need it as the dog has caught Kennel Cough from somewhere and of course we don't want to catch it from her!

Arrgh! Tragedy this morning. The seal on our espresso machine fell apart. After Mrs did some research we find we have to send to Australia for replacement (from NZ). It will be at least a week before we can get it. The previous seal lasted a good 10 years but Mrs is on the home stretch writing her latest book. Coffee is a mandatory part of the process. Had to buy a cheap espresso machine to tide us over. Fortunately the low end ones are pretty cheap.
