Kindle Keyboard: http://www.kboards.com/index.php/top...tml#msg1921549 Paperwhite 2: http://www.kboards.com/index.php/topic,165383.0.html To cut a longer story short, Kindle Keyboard's e-ink screen will look a little bit more like a page of a book than PW2 will, which will look a little bit more like a screen. |

Received my replacement this morning, 1 tiny pinhole near the bottom that wouldn't be an issue, but the light on it is very noticeably blue
![]() I've really enjoyed using the PW in the past few days, I'm quite enjoying the ease of use of the touch screen even though I previously loved the buttons on my K3, so I might just keep the first one. Compared to the replacement, the light is a more pleasant warm yellow except for a bit of a blue tinge at low levels - I can't even see any blue when I compare it to the replacement one, because it is blue at all light levels! It's maddening. I said I wouldn't keep it unless I was perfectly happy, but here I am contemplating doing just that..... ![]() Last edited by soulfuldog; 11-27-2013 at 09:01 AM. |

When the first touch screen devices were released I was not a happy camper. I was worried about fingerprints and how easy it would be to use the device with one hand. I complained about the lack of the keyboard. A year or so later, I bought an iPad and loved it. I was reading, kind of, on the iPad. I say kind of because I was easily diistracted by my email, the internet, and the games I have loaded. I learned that the fingerprints don't bother me and the screen can be cleaned when there are prints. I realized that I never use the keyboard so that was not really an issue. I wanted something that I could read in bed with the lights off and easily on a plane at night. I knew that the read on the iPad experiment had been a complete failure. I got a PW2 and have loved it. You can easily hold it in one hand and change the page with the tap of a thumb. I have yet to clean the screen of fingerprints. The light works great. And I still don't use the virtual keyboard. I have not played with any of the features (pinching, xray, or all that stuff) because the basic features work fine for me. I wouldn't mind page turn buttons but have found taping is easy enough. I have read 7 books in the 2 months I have had it, which is a massive improvement. Overall, I am thrilled I made the move. |

I spent 7 hours in airports and in flight while traveling yesterday. I brought my PW2 and my Nexus 7.2. Started out reading on the PW2 in airport while awaiting a delayed flight. After reading for 1 hour my eyes were straining big time, so I switched to the Nexus 7.2 and was able to read another hour at the airport and 3 hours during flight. That makes the PW2 a big fail IMO! The screen was tinted blue while at the airport where lighting was bright. A lady across the isle from me had a K4S and her screen put my PW2 screen to shame.

Very odd. I find it incredibly unusual that you would find a Nexus or even an ipad preferable over a PW1 or PW2. With the light properly set the PW is the best reader for my eyes. Different strokes for different folks. If you read better on the Nexus enjoy and try to find a good Nexus book support forum. |

Therefore I set my front-light to a level to brighten the screen as much as possible without making it look illuminated. As soon as that starts to happen, I start to prefer a tablet. Therefore, if the circumstances are such that I *always* see the Kindle glowing to be able to read, then I'd rather have a tablet, but this is fairly rare. |

I do get a little eye strain when reading on the PW1 if I don't take breaks every now and then. No problem with the K4B or the N7.2 |

Proper comarison is Kindle Fire HDX to Nexus 7.

Thus, the proper comparison is the Kindle Fire HDX 2013 to the Nexus 7. Personally, from what I read both are good tablets. However, the real choice is brand name and, of course, I reject all brands competing with Amazon brands due to the Amazon wide support network for thousands of products. Neither Google nor Apple can match the Amazon consumer support net. One feature is the instant Mayday feature on the HDX 2013 which neither the iPad nor Nexus can match. I use that feature all the time to reach Amazon Customer Support on all sorts of issues in SECONDS and I am not forwarded to India. Last edited by sirmaru; 11-27-2013 at 05:42 PM. |

![]() It doesn't matter if it's a tablet or eInk it matters is how easy it is to read on it. Some people can't understand that the new tablets are just as easy to read on as eInk. The problem with frontlit readers are they do give you a tad of eyestrain unlike the unlit reader. It took my eyes about 3 months to adjust to the PW. |
