Just got back from shopping. The butcher at our local supermarket told us that if we want a whole chicken, it will only take three weeks to get one, and will cost 4x as much as if we just bought parts... Remarkable.

Time for some transglutaminase ; reassemble the bird from bits. (Try looking for Food Glue).

Do the razor manufacturers really think people are that stupid? When they came out with a double-bladed safety razor it made sense. The second blade caught the hair that only bent in front of the first. It gave a cleaner shave quickly.

But then the makers added three blades, then four blades, and now FIVE blades, with the marketing strategy; 'Five blades means that you don't have to scrape your face several times with your razor, eliminating razor burn.'
Aren't folks smart enough to realize that scraping with five blades on the same handle one time is the same as scraping with one blade on the handle five times? It's not the handle that is causing razor burn...

I understand that three-bladed razors, with a good lubricating strip, are better than twos and ones for shaving your head, though I've only ever used a two. As to four and five, well, I've no idea. Not that this justifies three (or four, or five), considering the "shaving your head" market segment is likely not significant enough to justify the blade-profusion, but, there you go.

Cheers,
Marc (occasionally completely bald, but by choice)

Yes, the Mach 3 razor was the best I ever used for head shaving. Sort of pricey compared to the two-blade razors, though.

Well, I'm only shaving my neck, but I can't feel any different between the 2 and the 5. I DO feel a big difference between single and double, but that's as far as it goes. The 5-blade job feels no better than the two and is considerably more expensive. I 'could' understand that it lasts longer, as you are making few passes with the blade, but so far, I went through the three included replacements and didn't notice them lasting any longer than my cheapo double blade disposables.

Hasn't been approved for use in Japan as yet... Thank God. Costco got into some trouble here for trying to bring in frozen meats put together with the stuff. They were required to discontinue the line here.

The meat packers aren't as well organized here as in the US, and much fewer 'large cuts' are even offered here. I do wonder what McD's is using for their McNuggets and chicken patties, as well as their BBQ Rib they've been trying to sell.

I just selected a bear hunter with his killed bear for the picture battle thread. There were a lot of disgusting pictures at google images. All these hunters with their massive rifles and high-powered scopes, looking proud, as if they'd actually done anything sporting. You want to hunt bears? Fine. Use a bow and arrow, and knife as back up. At least level the playing field a *little* bit. /rant

After reading this rant yesterday I had a look for the razor price in our supermarket. $31.95 for 6

Even with the exchange rates, even with the transportation/importation costs, etc., etc., that is still WAAAAAAAY to much to have to pay for a daily use commodity!

Yep, looks like I'll have another handle laying around without blades while tearing my face up with those cheap bics.

I thought you guys in OZ all shaved with your hunting knives. The longer I participate in this forum and the more I learn about Australia, the more my image gets shattered...

So far;
Nobody has a pet koala
You don't all live in underground houses
You put beetroot (bleech!) on hamburgers
Not everybody finds opals in their yards
You can't walk from Perth to Sydney
There are no kangaroos on Canberra streets
... and now I learn that you don't use your hunting knives to shave!

But is it true... are north and south REALLY reversed in Australia?

Yes! And we drive on the left side of the road.

Those 'Merican TV shows with the cars on the wrong side give me the jitters!
