Wow. 2.2.0 looks good. "A separate HTML page for each book" is nice too, though, imho, needs some kind of cover resizing. (Especially Kindle's browser doesn't handle bigger-than-kindlescreen size pictures well and crashes a lot with big pages.)

Covers are big and in various sizes. Many of them are not fit for a 6-inch screen and are up to a couple of hundreds bytes. I tested with Amazon's original eBooks stored in calibre, auto-generated covers. I didn't know covers are that big. And Bandwidth-wise, it would not be a problem for Wi-Fi devices I guess, but is to devices with 3G network - like Kindle.

I wish there is a way to limit the size or have a option to use the cover images from "Browse by cover" or "All Books" in "A separate HTML page for each book" page.

And again, great work! Thanks.

Hi !

I'll add a max. cover size option in the next release, it's not difficult.

Thanks for the praise, I'm happy you like this program !

All best,
David.

I'm having a problem with Aldiko. When I try to use the xml catalog (stored on my Dropbox site), I get an error: "Could not load catalog - invalid catalog format." Since this same generated catalog works fine in Stanza on an iPod Touch, I think the problem is on Aldiko's end.

Since I am able to use the html version in Aldiko instead, it's not critical -- but thought I'd point it out in case anyone has any ideas.

Hi Bill,

I'll try and contact Aldiko so they can check what's wrong...

Cheers,
David.

I'm having a problem installing this on Win 7 x64. I've looked at the FAQ How Do I install this program on Windows 7, but I'm still not able to get this to work. It says to Open a cmd prompt (using "run as administrator"), navigate to the directory where you saved the files, and type "install.cmd".

If I extract the .exe I get a directory with one file, "install.jar", so "install.cmd" isn't going to work.

If I extract the "install.jar" it gives a number of directories (com, img, etc) and files. Typing "install.cmd" here does not work as there is no such file. In fact, there is no such file in any of the directories so I'm at a loss as to how it's possible to follow the directions in the above FAQ.

That answer is obsolete as the Windows install is now provided as an .EXE file rather than a ZIP file. You should now follow the procedure outlined here in the onlihne documentation. It is possible that you might have to right-click and select "Run a Administrator" - this is not required on Windows 7 32-bit but may be on 64-bit.

I am still having this problem with the Android version of Aldiko on my N1. Like you said, the HTML catalog works fine, just not the XML one. Has there been any progress on figuring out what is wrong?

I am also having a problem installing version 2.2. I am trying to install it using the .exe and it just hangs directly after the selection of the install path. Any help would be appreciated.

It might be worth trying to rename the .exe to SETUP.EXE and see if that helps. A file with that name gets special treatment from Windows as far as permissions is concerned (around privilege elevation for install purposes).

I tried renaming it and it still just freezes at the same spot. Has anyone else had a problem with this in Win 7?

2.2 installs fine on my Win 7 x64. Did you try running as admin when installing?
