True, I think they are exprapolating the 2 weeks and the fact that the website still says the webshop will be open in May.

Still, not too long to wait. I can't imagine that they would do a TV interview with one of the UK's larger stations without some definate progress/plan.

hmm, if they open the webshop on monday, and ship the iLiads immediately, then i might be able to take the iLiad with me on my trip to Italy next week. Well, sometimes i am hopelessly optimistic

At least we've seems a fully functional iLiad (or something that looks like fully functional)
That is always good news. The public release cant be too far;
Im just a bit unsure about the price. Hopefully they wont scare away customers with an overly-inflated price.

well...I hope they manage to release the Iliad soon enough for me to take one along to my teacher's house on the 5th of june...I'm doing my "final practical exam" (Diplom in German) at the Music University on the 12th and I'll be spending a week at my teachers house near the Alps (middle of nowhere, no internet,...) and I'll need a lot to read because you can't practise the violin all day long...and if the weather isn't reall good then it'll be a long week without a good book...:-)

Hell everyone. I just telephoned Irex to ask when the iLiad would available. The first thing the lady asked was how many units I required. (one) At which point she said the 'end of May' .. Seems like we could be waiting another week. I'm really hoping to have one in my hands for a business trip 1st week in June..

You forgot to ask how fast you could get a hundred or a thousand. If you can get them faster then it is a success problem, ie they have already sold all of their production.

Why are you thanking us? It would have cost me $5 to call them from the US (-:

Well that puts paid to any hopes of it being cheaper (after the UK newspaper article which claimed it would have a similar price to the Sony)

Ahh well. Otherwise it all good news. We know it's at least coming.

Thanks again for this Onceways. We appreciate it.

@sammykrupa

Offtopic: Would it really have cost 5$ to call from the us???

calling the netherlands from Germany is about 1.2cent per minute, almost as cheap as calling the US (1cent)

tsts...and I always thought Germany was backward...^^

@henrycat:

Can you give us any news on the OS? I know you're probably very busy and fed up with reviewing the device for us, but a few words about the PowerManagement in the updated Os would be a real treat.

THANKS!

CommanderROR,
If you just have a standard phone plan (not VoIP) it might cost a lot. Here is a Verizon page on phone charges:

http://www22.verizon.com/longdistanc..._ttw_rates.jsp

Looks like it would cost some $.15 a minute plus $3 monthly just for the privilege.

hmmm...are we talking mobile phones here???

That's a completely different thing then...I was talking about "normal" telephone...mobile is very expensive anyway, and calling foreign countires isn't really affordable at all...
